Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Personnel elimination

In the club's I've worked, personnel have been the first contact of the open door; a liaison between management and hourly associates. With their job ending, I am honestly looking at the benefits of a union for the first time. Not a 100% yet, just doing some research. Who will stand up for you now?

On line delivery will get expensive the more it is used. Lots of products get stolen off porches, is damaged on delivery and delivered to the wrong address. Then people are on their phone for hrs. trying to get a human to talk to replaced and reorder. People don't have time to shop? But they will wait around for hrs until their packages are delivered or better yet have a stranger walk inside their place to deliver while people are not home. Does not seem confident.

SHIPPING RATES.....this is a cost to companies that has got to be factored into COGS. I do agree with this poster, brick and more (whoever is left) will be the leader in sales and eventually being the cheaper option when shopping. Shopping brick and mortar is a experience you don't get on line, when your with friends or family the conversations, just being with someone u love and enjoying the experience . Melinnials want those experiences they know they are loosing real relationships with family and friends. They are smarter than all of us know, this company better wake up they are investing in the wrong sector...online I don't know but if you are a true CEO or anyone that has to make a decision, would k ow this do somthing different don't follow LEAD!! Do the opposite of what EVERYONE is doing ...think outside the box I make a measly 25k a year you make millions by being a follower cracks me up...WAKE Up

On-Line Shopping will not last.....WMT will spend their last dime on it in an effort to try and make a successful go of it....they younger generations will tire (some are already tired of it) technology and will look to brick & mortar shopping as a social experience......there will be another store/company that will step up and take the business...just watch. Its a cycle......how many catalogs are you getting in the mail now? I would imagine that everyone is receiving some type of catalog on a normal basis.....just ask Norm the Mail Man.

First there is no way they close Unionized Clubs and they would be targeted Clubs . High volume and profitable various areas of the Company, to be sure to tax their limited resources. Some will succeed, many will not. That would be expected initially. Once several are Organized it will be a Mass media Wildfire!! You have no one representing you, they took care of that . The MM ?? Please! They are just useful id--ts on the same Chess board as the rest of us.

If you have the chance Vote ! Vote Union Yes!

No BS if it’s not for you and you’re ok with continuing to be sh-- on by these pieces of human scum. Then Vote No! They have been using the same bull sh-- scare tactic forever! If any Company deserves Unionization it’s Sams Club especially after this year! Are you guys blind ??

To bdt- not about 1 person but about the future of ecommerce and how it will affect all brick and mortar buildings Our younger generation shop online and not walk around inside a building to shop. Slowly but surely retail will be affected

One person can close a facility making millions of dollars every year in profit? This company, all 600 clubs, can be ruined? They can be brought down by one person per club? I think not.

Tji- not every store and club will be successful with union representation. The ones that are will be closed because this is the last thing the company wants and will give them a reason to close these buildings. Our future generation is shopping online(Amazon etc.) and not walking into a building to walk around and shop. Look at all of the changes within the company that are already reflecting the wave of the future and see that more and more buildings will close to cut costs and to become competitive with ecommerce.

@mqo So if we were able to get a union in every club, WM would close them all down to spite their face?

As I’ve said before—- if a union takes over a club, that club will close down so every person there will be out of a job vs. just the PTC. SO ARE YOU SAYING THAT WHEN YOU GO YOU WANT TO TAKE EVERYBODY DOWN WITH YOU? Just accept your severance pay and leave vs. closing the entire club down because of you. The place can and will go on without you!
