Don't underestimate buybacks and cash flow. Oracle spent 10's of billions the last 12months for stock buyback. Reducing outstanding shared by 8.5%, revenue drops only like 1%. But even after all these buybacks and dividend, cash flow increased. Some estimated Oracle's current cash amount could afford 5.8 quarters, but if cashflow included it could last much longer. The stock price is still around 50, so the same number of shares can be brought back with the same amount of cash. But the reduction in shares outstanding ratio is much bigger. three years ago the outstanding shared were 5.2billion, today 4billion. essentially 1billion shares were absorbed. The next billions share absorbed could be as much as 25% of shares outstanding.then the next will be 33% then 50%, since LE currently holds more than 25%, in less than 3x3 years the company could go private if stock price doesn't increase.

OP : I don't think there is anything to be happy or proud of... ORCL is flat since last year (48$ sept 19th 2017, 49$ today), and only thanks to MASSIVE amount of buyback.

ORCL is one of the worse tech investment you can do today, maintained artificially high with billions of buyback.

we'll see what happen when no more buyback. I have sold all my ORCL last friday, and must say big thanks to Oracle for the money they used in buyback, since my loss have been somewhat less, but I'm done with this sh--ty stock. there are much better options.

ORCL? no tnks.

"Throwing good money after bad and it’s all because LE has borrowed massively against his stock"

You keep saying this. Do you have any proof that he borrowed massively? Or are you just making it up? I've asked before and all I got were crickets.

Throwing good money after bad and it’s all because LE has borrowed massively against his stock and cannot afford the margin calls when oracle stock goes down, so used cash flow and cash on hand to effectively prop up LE stock and delay margin calls.

12 Billion a quarter in buy backs will keep ORCL in the green. Oracle has 67 Billion in cash and short term investments. 67/12 = 5.58 Quarters before Oracle dies. So we have until Q3 FY2020 before the stock collapses into an inky black red hole of no return.

GOOD JOB, MH!

MH admitted at the Town hall that sales need to grow more than they are.

They can't keep announcing another $10B in buybacks every quarter. Or are LE and the other main shareholders planning on taking ORCL private? They don't have to buy back all the shares, just the ones held by retail investors.

using billions to buyback stock instead of acting like the growth story Oracle claims to be. now only $2 Billion net of debt so buybacks won't last forever....

Market speculates that LE will fire MH very soon for publicly referring TK as a good boy.
