Thread regarding Sears layoffs

I hope my store closes

Is it bad I'm hoping my store will be among those closing? I know a lot of people check to see if their store is on the list of closings with fear, but I do it with hope.

I guess I just really wish this mess was over already.

Does that say more about me or about the company?

I am in the same boat as you OP. Our store has become a hostile environment. I am on the way out already though, but I was hoping my store would close to take advantage of unemployment. I didn't mind my job before, but now its just so much they want you to do with limited hours.

I work at Kmart as a second job... I really don’t need the job, but I like the extra cash. I’ll probably work there until the store closes, but only because I put the extra money toward vacations and debt repayment.

It’s amazing to see how many people are willing to stick around just so they might get severance pay. Well, if/when the company goes bankrupt, there goes your pittance of a “severance” package. If people are so unhappy, then leave now. Don’t wait for the severance that may never come. Don’t wait for the unemployment payment. Polish up that resume and get out now. Life is too short to wait for the other shoe to drop

I can kind of see it. If you store closes, you will have no choice but to go elsewhere, conflict free. Change makes most people anxious, some more than others. My store is full of people who have been at Sears a long time and although they don't like what's going on, they will not move until the door is shut for good there. For the most part, they are hard working good people.

I am hoping to make it to retirement age. I am close.

Says more about you. What are you planning after your store closes? Why not start that now and work towards something you believe in, you'll be better off and so will Sears.
