2019 it will be 1 month severance. The eeoc will not even look at your age discrimination complaint UNLESS everyone being laid off is and old timer. Verizon is not stupid and they know what they are doing. You are not entitled to severance unless you have a contract that includes a severance clause. Get over it... it is just good business.

Really? youre not suing for a severance package.. Wake up.. Youre can sue for being laid off. Like if you get an outstanding review and they let you go. You can sue for anything. Does not mean you win bu VZ does not want the time and expenses tide to a lawsuit
Sprint reduced its severance pay 2 years ago. There is no law that requires companies to pay severance. So good luck suing verizon for it! And yes severance will be reduced to one month pay because you will also get unemployment. This reduction is for any work group not covered by a contract ... mostly the wireless side and management.
It’s in the contract smh
The severance package is in play because the money is enough to prevent a large amount of people from filing discrimination suits such as age discrimination. I've also heard for years that they were going to get rid of it but it just doesn't make sense they would have to hire lawyers multiple lawyers to care for all the lawsuits that would happen
Unless it is written in a contract, severance packages are totally at the control of the employer as to whether they provide severance or not. There are no laws that mandate companies to provide severance packages.
i have been hearing this for a few years now and no confirmation. I would say this is roumer to try to put fear in some.. overall its a write off for them and not worth the potential additional law suits. Alot more people would decline to sign the rif papers for only 30days pay.
