I have a question

Does anyone know why they are cutting full-time with hours at 36

@VfIH6LF I think you are correct on this one! It's all about cutting so budgets will look good.

Everyone that is full-time is down to 36 1/2 at my club. It's really rough on the front end with a skeleton crew, stay within FFA policies and do breaks and lunches plus barely a floor associate in sight. Then you'll have the clueless manager wanting MSS to open another line while they're stuck in t-b-cco on a Friday pulling orders due to call outs.

Full-time is 34 hours and based on your 12 week average. It changed about seven years ago When Brian Cornell was our CEO. They’re not cutting hours they are scheduling you within the Club budget based on each department. If you want 40 hours you should try working overnights or the front end, they always have plenty of payroll. I moved to a cashier 5 months ago and I’ve gotten 40 hours every week since Without being affected by budget cuts.

No.... They're gonna cut whoever whenever. Trust me, they are not thinking, hmmm let's cut some hours so we don't have to get rid of more people. They are ruthless.

@2ogw - that's actually very accurate. I wish more people would look deeper into things and see what's really going on. Enough with everyone arguing on here. It doesn't matter why they're cutting hours and people and closing stores. None of it really matters. It is happening, and it will continue to happen all the way down to there being no more Sam's. It all boils down to them making themselves look better to the world and their shareholders, while the workers take the punches. I understand the complaining that goes on, but to me it's not justified if you're not doing anything to improve the situation. I know a lot of people are just waiting on a severance, but sometimes it's just not worth it.

Yes , you are right . But the growth was from ecommerce, hence the cutting hours in Clubs and stores. Clubs are struggling . We are a thing if the past . There not cutting hours for greed, there cutting them for budgets and making the numbers look

good for a buyer or the shareholders

Actually, the last quarter numbers are in and the whole “clubs are struggling line is b---s---! We had our best quarter last quarter than we have in the last ten years! The Sam’s side was up some 5%! I highly recommend searching out Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club info from reliable news sources so you know when you are being lied to! They just want to squeeze more money out of each club like greedy you know whaters!

If your hours arr knocked down to 34 hours just put in 6 hours of PTO to compensate for the 6 hours loss. Remember you get PTO on PTO hours used.

Our CM does the same. She gives OT to all the butt kissers who jump when she says. The others who just work hard and try to provide for their families get their hours cut to compensate and allow the chosen ones to get OT. Happens so much it's ridiculous. Just because some of us aren't telling her how awesome she is doesn't mean we don't deserve to work. CM in Gilbert AZ. If she doesn't get constant compliments, she gets insecure. What a leader that is...

Our club was cutting to 32 hours. They said it was because we had to payback payroll from the earlier weeks when they went over. There were mornings where the only people on the floor were MSS, bakery, produce, cashiers, TBA and photo. Photo had to cover everything from electronics to hardlines to center to seasonal. And yes, I now work somewhere else

And if they don't want people to work OT then the managers shouldn't allow it. But they do it every damn week, and you know why? Because they are too short staffed.

The Walton's are billionaires. Each one of them. Companies do try to save money. They all have to. But you're stupid if you don't think the Walton's are extra greedy. HO can hand out extra hours to the clubs, allow them to hire a few more people. They have the money. Billions! But instead they choose to cut people, cut raises, cut hours, close stores and the list goes on. There is no reason to be so greedy and we all know it.

They are struggling. Clubs are not doing well in sells. It is about budget and expenses. Shrink and accidents are up. Clubs are struggling with payroll. Add in PTO and we are sinking.

No I'm not a Democrat I was just wondering because seems like they trying to get rid of all full-time and just have part-timers and I think that's why they keep cutting hours

I know the fresh departments are getting most of their hours big focus on fresh . Floor associates not so much. I think it has to do with the clubs sales.

Obviously they dont wanna pay OT. Most companies dont wanna pay OT. It's not about greed. It's about managing payroll and following budgets. All companies do this. It's so funny anytime Sam's does something that may not make everyone happy. Its cause its greed or because John and Gisel are running the company. Maybe sh-- just happens and you just gotta deal with it. Happens every year. You must be a Democrat. Also, not a HO troll. Just here for the comments

So they don't have to pay you, and keep that money in their own pocket. They are run by greed. Plain and simple. Anything to screw over the workers, they will do it. So now they'll try to send you home at 36 he's knowing people work over anyway. OT doesn't start until after 40 hours, so they can save money.
