Thread regarding Sears layoffs

SMART'S

Combine both Sears and K-Mart in one location , best store in local area . Store would carry same items that fit pocket book from low to higher price goods . No need to remodel store , one being vacated could be either sold or leased out . Choose larger store and handle more bedding and appliances , continue with Amazon partnership and cut back on Hoffman support persons...worthless as they are unnecessary expense .

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the name is already taken:

SHLD would have to buy out the rights to the name and I don't think they have the money to do that.

As many have said this idea has been tried...and failed. The main problem is you are under the impression that the CEO and execs. want to truly "transform" Sears/Kmart into a viable retail brand. They DO NOT....they have proven this many, many times. He and they are robbing the brand of everything that is of value and are going to leave it for dead. To dream up ideas to turn this failing "ICON" around is honestly a complete waste of your time and energy. Sears/Kmart is basically under hospice care and it's only a matter of time. Move on, focus on things in your life you actually have control over. If you are being paid to write/type these things over and over you should shift gears on finding other means of employment. Just being honest.

As some have already said; already the company has done this a few times. Even with the modern one in NY isn't really doing so hot.

If the cheerleader is a paid poster, it would make sense if it was Chris B or someone who works for him.

This cheerleader sounds like Alywin Lewis, CEO hand picked by Eddie a decade ago.....He was nothing but a windbag.....talked a lot but did not say much of substance.

One of Eddie's first big mistakes....hiring a CEO (Aylwin) with a food service industry background....but not much experience in the department store industry...

Alywin lasted a year or two as Sears CEO before Eddie cut him loose and sent him packing.

They did that, called them Sears Essentials - converted Kmart stores into a Sears lite mash up with Kmart. It alienated thenkmart customer and never drew sears customer - was a true off to everyone else. The had like 65 of them. Rebranded then as sears grand (but we’re not even close to the original sears Grand format). All closed or converted back to kmarts years ago. So been done, in fact it was Eddie’s original game plan and like all the others since was a complete failure.

Yep, Already been done in NY. the problem with that store is that you cannot pick something up at the kmart and pay for it in Sears and visa versa. The Kmart system and the Sears system do not work together they are seperate. Good idea but horrible execution.

This was the idea behind Sears Grand. How many Sears Grand stores are still open?

This is comical. They tried to do this. Trying to get the systems to work together was nearly impossible. Customers would have to literally check out twice. It illustrates what a mess the back end systems are at SHLD. Kmart and Sears systems were never integrated and it costs many millions every year in duplicate costs.

Think about it , more money , less stores , no real influence from Hoffman , varied quality and pricing so customers have choice . WIN , WIN , WIN BIG !

If you have a K-Mart and Sears in same town close the worst store and sell the other. Now you have cash flow and new format with varied pricing .

You need money to do that. Are you going to pony up?
