5cui. So in the grand scheme of things what does this action tell you??? (spinoff, lay-off, re-education, a new business opportunity).
IBM's latest strategy is to transfer 100's of aged employees into a division where they have next to zero skills! Aug 1, 450 employees were moved from TSS to IS with no warnings!
4pld,
Firing workers who cost more money is a perfectly legal action. It just so happens that the workers who cost more money happen to be older. But that doesn't make it illegal. Anytime you say the company is firing older people to cut costs, you are actually arguing in favor of the company.
Yes - the jettison of older workers who cost more money is commonplace and the big corporations seem to get away with it. I'm shocked there arent more lawsuits, especially given that separated employees are forced to sign documents under duress for fear of losing whatever little benefit they are being offered.
Can we send all the technical work to India and still remain managers here?
Can I still keep my BMW and pretend to be important?
No and No according to Bain
goodby blue skies to all the wannabe managers
It is ironic how many people over 50 at IBM are considered "outdated" and replaced by younger workers. Even after all of these layoffs and reshuffling, revenue has declined by over 20 billion dollars in the past 6 years. With all of this new talent shouldn't revenue be increasing by 20 billion? Is anyone able to explain how the board of directors who's average age is 65 is exempt from the age related RA mandate? Warren Buffet was right to sell most of his useless stock!
It is not just the RA'd people. Most over 50 and/or over 30 years are considered to have no "career potential" and therefore are not able to ever get a raise or promotion again. That is how IBM values current older employees with a great deal of experience. The criteria that enables a a even raise is sickening.
Ironically to let go of their US Staff to replace with unskilled, outsourcing. When will they realize you end up paying 3 times as much for unskilled labor and lose your customers because you continue to f up.
Indian infestation all levels, while replacing older Americans, what a deal......clean this ship, before it hits the iceberg, Rolf
AWESOME, SUE THE MOITHEFUCKERS, MAKE THEM PAY- KARMA IS A B--ch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What reputation? It's not 1998 anymore
Wells Fargo has a better reputation than IBM
IBM is bleeding, they have made serious cuts to it's experienced workforce to replace it with cheaper less or unskilled labor.
The past two CEO's have done so much damage, I would not hire IBM to do anything,
What reputation?
