How much GLs make..? Is it worth the stress..

Hello folks - newbie to intel.

I noticed that all senior GLs talk very seriously and detailed in meetings,PMs etc..and they have meetings etc. even for tiny misses..

Seems like pretty stressed out situation esp. If you are 18-20 years experienced and have family..i was wondering how much per year a GL with 20 years of exp. make..?is it worth it..

If you are young, smart, and want to make something out of your life intel ain't the company for you to sweat in, get out before it sinks

Even if the Intc stock is taking hits and decreasing in value in the investors eyes. If you cash out the stock, your still responsiable for the taxes. You'll need to find one of those rupe's to USD conversion programs. If your in arranged marriage and your wife does not work. If the wife works at Intel, Then the compensation against taxes decreases. Plus some depends (kids, your relatives and your wife's relatives). Then you idea of a free ride at Intel is not happening. Especially since the competition is building devices using 7nm processes. Significant number of industries uses GPU's to run their work loads. in Data Centers. Since Intel does not have ability to sell enterprise software or SaaS product. Since I saw this for my own eye's while working for Intel. Look for alternatives....

GLs make the same as process engineers, it all depends on the grade level.

GL is most;y a TMG term, which means even they are kept in the drak and fed shaight. Outside TMG there are groups where you can interact with humans, get cool travel, visit interesting conferences, meet people outside Intel, and have occasional fun. In TMG they treat you like a rat; I know nad have seen both. Thank God I got out of TMG, biggest set of martyrs known. And now, incompetent too with 10nm being 5years late (leadership, not the s---ers in the org).

ple is mostly correct. Most of the people who are made GLs were good engineers, but were shoved into a role for which they have few skills. Unless you are politically adept or connected you will fail and be pushed out in another year or two. I've seen it over and over.

I have never met a GL who was actually qualified for that position. These people are simply promoted from the engineering ranks and have no clue how to manage people, or any other project management skills. Most of the time they are an established friend of the SLM that promoted them for that position. Sad.

Why be a GL? They are just parrots for their managers. No original thought. Just do whatever is commanded and take the blame if things go south.
