Severance Package Payout..

Lots of talk about pension, etc and severance payout. If you are let go and qualify for say 8 weeks of severance, do you get 2 weeks of salary continuance (i.e. health benefits) and then a lump sum for the remainder and you're out (no more benefits after the initial 2 weeks); -OR- do you get 8 weeks continuance and then after the 8 weeks you're out - OR- Do you get a lump sum payout for the whole 8 weeks up front and you're out immediately?

Apparently depends on what organization you're in. Mine is capped at 8 weeks regardless of decades of service. At exit interview, get severance pay, any hours worked not yet paid, pay for vacation earned not used. Health insurance stops when you walk out the door. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. I'm out next week. Already have private insurance set up.

2 weeks of salary continuance followed by your weeks of severance in a lump sump. Benefits end when salary continuance ends.
