Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Xerox Hiring HR Data Analysts

Why is HQ/HR hiring data analytics people? To find a more efficient way to lay us off? Who would want that job? Anyone know anything about this?

Also it's Thursday- LAY OFF DAY! Anyone hear anything today?

To Senior data analyst, you seem to know the process, but who analyzes the six figure jhonnys for efficiency? Plenty of dead wood to be had there, at significant cost savings to Xerox, vs getting rid of people who work.

And the movie you speak of is called "Office Space", not Office.

I'm a Senior Data Architect with Xerox and I understand what my Data Analytics brethren do in HR. Their purpose is to determine how to increase efficiency with fewer employees and in which areas of the company in alignment with upper management goals.

Translation: Get rid of the "dead wood" no matter how beneficial/essential they are. Go watch the original movie, "Office." May be hilarious - but the intent is the same.

Read the posting.

The 2nd bullet caught my eye:

"Build dashboards and tools to support talent analytics, from sourcing and interviewing candidates to managing attrition."

Attrition...

Definition:

noun: attrition

  1. the action or process of gradually reducing the strength or effectiveness of someone or something through sustained attack or pressure.

"the council is trying to wear down the opposition by attrition"

synonyms: wearing down, wearing away, weakening, debilitation, enfeebling, sapping, attenuation; gradual loss

"the battle would result in further attrition of their already lame naval force"

NORTH AMERICANAUSTRALIAN/NZ

the gradual reduction of a workforce by employees' leaving and not being replaced rather than by their being laid off.

"with so few retirements since March, the year's attrition was insignificant"

wearing away by friction; abrasion.

"the skull shows attrition of the edges of the teeth"

synonyms: abrasion, friction, erosion, corrosion, corroding, grinding; More

2.

(in scholastic theology) sorrow, but not contrition, for sin.
