Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

From David Craig

"Many of you will have read the recent press stories regarding the savings planned and the structure of the debt. I know that the upcoming changes to our organization are very much in everyone’s minds and my commitment to you all is that we will be communicating and implementing those changes as soon as possible after the 1 October. However I want to reassure everyone that this exercise is not just about cost cutting – it is about creating the high performance business we all want and most importantly re-investing in the people, products and services we need to help drive customer delivery and growth."

The company literally has a campaign- complete with posters and name tags- that say “be here now”. perhaps the writing has always been on the wall.

David Craig is as much a laughable CEO as he is effective.

A company that’s more concerned with “inclusion” than results will always fail. But hey- at least they have the much needed “inclusion index”! You’ve not “included” yourself into a another lay-off. Heard they’re going to clear out St Louis and Minnesota. Some nice people there- good luck everyone.

Sounds exactly like the messaging in late 2013. And late 2016. Hogwash. They've been working on this sale since before both of those re-orgs: the target has always been to get as much money out the company as possible to reduce the losses to the Thomson family. They made a cr*p investment at the worst possible time and were never able to make it work.

In the meantime, though: David Craig and the consultant buffoons who dragged everyone through re-org after re-org made themselves rich.

I wasn't on the call today but the Scottish fella could Alex Fergus, Head of HR - can't stand him and his sychophantic cohorts with their pointless HR gobbledygook business-speak nonsense - Finance and HR are traditionally not badly hit when it comes to layoffs, I wonder if it will be the same this time round?

Exactly he dud mention that the redundancies bit during today's call will be addressed in details next week i.e. on Tuesday ... The guy with the Scottish accent I hear was from Blackstone, can anyone confirm?

Wouldn't "immediately after Oct 1" mean Oct 2/3? Is it perhaps hiding in plain sight?!? Why would anyone hold a company wide townhall, only to layoff a huge chunk of them shortly after? But again, given the general level of inefficiency that's exactly what they might do.

God damn it, is there some r----ded book of exec-u speak f--gery (no offense to anyone who is g--), where these a--holes get this stuff?

“Dear staff, although we are about to pound your anus, its not all because we want you dead. We want some of you alive to bury the others. This low intelligence cliche message on high performance brought to you by david sc-aping the bottom, gaping anus craig”

And yes there is a lot of innuendo in this post

Keep wasting (or spending) millions on consultants then hiring them Mr. Craig. It's quite obvious he's a mark for a PPT and Excel presentation. Talking about high performance is hilarious. His track record is not to be trusted. Constant strategy shifts? Check. Layoffs like it's going out of style? Check. Re-orgs annually? Check.
