@1mcn- Well said and on the money!!

O.P just from your post and the clueless nature of how you think business works I would guess that you have never actually had a job. And if you have and you work for sears/kmart please enlighten us of when you have gone to HE to attend a meeting to make your suggestions or when you have called Lena or Eddie to give them your two cents or even when you have told your DM or SM how to run the stores? And finally, if you have such great ideas and you have such a great business sense why are you working (or are you) for anyone, why not make your millions in your own business

Everyone chill , what have you done for company ?

That's not how it works. For a company like Sears, the day-to-day folks get paid for doing their jobs, and based on what has been said on this forum, these people have been doing their jobs well, and seen upper management squander the efforts. The folks on these forums have literally no agency beyond doing their jobs as best as they can. My question is: what has upper management done for the company? Clearly, not much if Sears is in this state.

Too many SMART people getting pay check that do not Care!

This is baloney. If these folks didn't care, they wouldn't be here, some of whom are truly eager to hear hope of good news. The folks that didn't care, left; and if they REALLY didn't care, wouldn't even be on this forum.

Ever suggest way out of situation or alternate way to do business?

The people on this forum do not have the agency to introduce of affect corporate policy. So let's not pretend that all the average worker needs to do is submit a suggestion. Corporations like Sears are top-down management, and the employees know it.

Of all those Smart people in that so called Support center , you would think at least one has something to offer that just might work!

Again, the people you are referring to have literally no agency. There isn't an executive in the company that is going to take advice from an hourly employee. This is just victim blaming.

But no, easier to cry instead of getting involved!

Working for a company is not activism. It's a job. A career. People got involved by doing their best to make their stores, their departments, as successful as they can be given the constraints put on them by management. You "get involved" with voting out an unpleasurable politician. You don't "get involved" to manage corporate policy. That's just absurd.

Wake up it is just as much your fault if you did not try!

No. Top down management means all the blame goes to the folks at the top. The folks at the bottom of the pyramid have no say, so they get no blame. Again, this isn't politics. this is a business. Run by a man who essentially plundered all the profitability out of Sears and into his own coffers, leaving a rotting husk. There is nothing an hourly retail associate, or a customer service rep, or even a middle manager could have done to make this work.

The bottom line is: this site is intended for people to discuss layoffs as they pertain to a particular company. The people here are discussing Sears layoffs, and the bad decisions that resulted in these layoffs. If you, @Vj9bn9v, don't feel comfortable with this narrative, then this is not the forum for you. If you really want to "cheer lead" on behalf of corporate, your angle should be on how the decisions of corporate will actually mitigate layoffs -- but as that is an impossible to assert because the facts don't support the claim, you resort to gaslighting people who come to these forums hoping against all hope they do not have to plunge into a very hostile job market.

Believe me, we've all tried to get rid of Eddie. Have you been successful In turning this company around? No? Then shut the pie hole.

It's impossible to "get involved" when the people above you don't want your input.

Eddie doesn't need any help on how to run a retail business. He's a genius. Remember that Forbes magazine said so. The next Warren Buffett. Wink, wink!!

Business schools will teach future MBA of not what to do using Sears as case study. At least it will be remembered and be a very good teaching subject.

KMart Cheerleader receives new position

offensive runningback

The Cheerleader's new duties will now be to blame YOU for the demise of the company on behalf of Quarterback mid-management at HE.

Her admonitions will be louder than a drunk texas judge angry at people that have paid their child support so she can't put them in jail.

When Chapter 7 is announced because the company has been in 11 for years now without officially being there, she will strike out at you until her paycheck bounces while on the other side of her statements will tell you that you can still save the company.

This just might qualify as the most clueless post ever. THOUSANDS of hardworking people made Sears what it was for YEARS until Eddie came along and INTENTIONALLY destroyed it and them for his own gain. Selfish management loyal to Eddie's scheme systematically eliminated everyone of expertise in the company in order to justify their own worthless existence. This is exactly what happened.

What exactly is a lowly, hourly store employee supposed to do? We show up for our shifts and try to provide the best customer service possible despite the circumstances, like cuts in payroll, running the stores on a shoestring and the general stress that comes with having to make do with less and the worry of what store is next in line to be axed.

We do not make any decisions for this company, we do not call the shots. We are at the bottom of the totem pole and just do as we are told and with what we are given. Anybody who tries to make any suggestions to make things better for Sears is told to keep quiet because only the MBA's know better. So, if you want to blame somebody for the decline of this company, blame the decision makers. That would be anybody in a C-level position!

First of all, grammar check and second of all, this is just another damage control post. Most of the employees on here have tried to help but to no avail. It's too late for a way out now. There is no way out and to be like Eddie and try to blame them for the way the company is. Open up your eyes and look around. A turnover is not going to happen and most rational employees know this.
