Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Why so much confusion?

Where is Verizon Corporate Change Management group when we need them the most? Communications? How are they managing this "Journey"? People are frustrated and there are rumors flying left and right... If you are reading this board, you know what I am talking about.

Here in the office is even worse than on TheLayoff - I've heard all kinds of crazy stuff, rumors, half truths, assumptions etc... Why don't they take some basic control of this mess, this is so poorly executed it's not even funny....

These guys are making tens of millions of dollars to execute, and this is their responsibility, starting with Hans. I get the need for change, I get the need for buyouts and RIFs, I totally get all of it - I know it's often very hard to do and no matter what some people will be unhappy. Yet, I cannot accept the fact that, from the execution standpoint, this has been done so poorly I think someone needs to be fired over this.

That's my two cents.

HR does nothing but make work for everyone else. Typically the stupidest of the stupid go into that “profession”.

I particularly like how they b--ch about gender diversity in other departments when they are nearly all women. NOT leading by example.

It cracks me up when I read Vz salaried employees whining how there's too much work to do. Such a hardship.

They never bailed hay.

BTW, I'm one. Yup, our management is bad. But I love my work, enjoy my colleagues and earn a nice living. Won't be taking the offer, I'll be hanging on like grim death.

@yks

That is the case every year around this time.

Not much work is done until after people take their vacations in December and come back after new years.

The next summer comes around and people wonder why its impossible to complete all the work.

I heard mention of taking it meant no more VZ ever in the future. What if I take it and they refuse me, which they say they can in the faq, am I officially never allowed into Vz again when they rif me later and I’d never be able to move within VZ or is it just an unofficial thing.

I was here for the last one but that was a long while ago when I wasn’t beaten down but this just seems cold. There was talking with your manager if you wanted but today all managers and directors offline and no emails replied to about work like they didn’t want you to know they were there.

Verizon could careless about their employees and with today’s fiasco the feeling is mutual. It is clear some higher ups most likely A--hole Hans and others are benefiting from the Infosys deal. They shafted V team, just so they could lineup their pockets. People, start tracking Hans and his bodies. Hans is corrupt and should be reported to FCC and others.

POORLY EXECUTED!! Who was the id--t that thought introducing this on a Monday was such a great idea? There should have been smaller discussions leading up to the big changes. Telling the majority of IT that they have a new employer, InfoSys, which is based out of India, and not providing employees anything important other than you have a new employer, isn't the way thing should be done. Where is the human factor with leadership? Do they not understand that they are dealing with people? To claim people as V teamers and then proceed to deliver the news in the fashion that they did should be reason enough to simply fire the executive who led that discussion this morning with the IT teams.

Did they think that they were going to get work done? That email sent out today was done in poor taste. It should have been a call with allowing people to have a question/answer session. Where is the respect to those who put in years at this company to help make it successful? The company is making money and it is not due to the executives, it's due to the worker bees that work hard to make things happen. What a disgrace we are seeing unfold before us. This has zero to do with change, it has to do with lack of leadership and it starts at the top.

I fail to see any "confusion" here! People mouthing off obviously were not here for the last VSP in 2003.

THIS TIME...all i had to do is click on the link that took me to my personalized page to see if eligible (yes!!) And there are links for FAQ, an example of the letter with all of the legal terms and more.

To be a technology company, it sure seems some are very "technology challenged". SMH

If you volunteer and are accepted your exit date will likely be end of December but some may be pushed back to March or as late as June. You don't get to pick your exit date. There is a link to ask questions if you are deemed eligible on the microsite.

@khr agree, It was eerily quiet today, no one was focused on the work and group chats were low key.

Happiness ensued until it was understood one may not get a buyout if requested.

No one wants to survive this, the workload is already ridiculous.

Change energizes us, right? They're energizing us into paralysis...couldn't get work with all the phone calls and messages from folks wondering what was going on.
