Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Is Resigning now a good option?

My friend have an offer right now in hand and applied for resignation. Even after these many consequences happening around, management is trying to compromise and they are giving false promises. What should be the good decision for him to do? Does he needs to wait for share and VIPS? I don't think that as wise since we don't have a clear vision of Vz ryt now.

Vz is moving to 5g whatever that means. It could mean that those types of positions internally will be offered or not. Not that other lines of businesses will be totally cut off especially if in profitable lines. I suggest look at the company financial statements to see where your division stands on profitability. It seems based on the email that the strategy is a focus on new technologies.

At the very minimum request to voluntarily separate. If you don’t, they will not offer you the same severance package- it’ll be less than what you’re being offered now. Even if they don’t accept it and you request up front they have to honor that higher severance package if they cut you later before June 28.

I had this friend that couldn't make decisions either.

It made him a very poor manager.

The best thing is to move away from vz if he had an offer. Vz will get leaner soon.
