Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Guys! Just come over to the other side!!

Look, my store closed in January, and it was pretty sad to be a part of. I miss my store (the people of course)! BUT - I am so much happier now! I got a great job, and so did everyone else, besides the few that retired. Sure a big chunk went to other Walmarts and Sam's. Those of us who took severance, have been happier. I only know of 1 person who is not, but he went to another local retail place and well.... Duh... All I keep thinking is that I could've gone on and found this happiness sooner if I just got the balls to pull the plug on my Sam's "career" (ha! That term doesn't exist there anymore). I'm trying to encourage you to do the same! Get out and find that happy spot! Come on with your bad self!

Blame the government for forcing healthcare? Why is that being labeled as bad??? I understand that companies are gouging and it's an outrageous payment in a lot of cases, but the government is doing this for the good of the people. Now they need to put some laws into place so we aren't paying so darn much for it. It's a process that will get better. It just s---s right now.

I've had other low paying jobs and Sam's Club is the best low paying job for part-time work. If I'm going to blame anyone, I'd blame politicians because I use to be able to work a 40 hour week at the same location. I could afford to pay my bills and have some left over. Not now. First the companies were penalized if an employee worked an average of 40 hours a week and the company didn't provide insurance. Now under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's (PPACA), employers with 50 or more full time equivalent employees must provide employees who work an average of 30 hours or more a week with health coverage or face a financial penalty. This is why we can't get enough hours. You can blame Walmart or big business or capitalism because they won't provide the insurance coverage the government demands. The fact is, if the government would have kept their nanny nose out, the workers would have sorted it out. Just like now. McDonalds, in our town, can't get enough employees, because everyone wants to work at Walmart/Sam's Club because it's 11.00 an hour, not 9.50. Workers will migrate to where the better job or pay is.
