Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Will they seriously accept everyone’s offer to separate?

I can’t think that they’ll accept everyone’s offer to separate. I get the feeling that they offered this to everyone just to “include” them if they’re currently retained but are going to be cut. But they can’t get rid of every EUS person; there are cases where only one exists in the area. I’m concerned they are going to say, “nope we need this little bot to work so you don’t get it.”

Surely they’ll only grant the severance to those who are redundant? Either way I’m volunteering. We will see what happens.

EUS can afford to take a few hits because automation is working so well, the tools we give the techs always work so consistently.

And the nrq is such a joy why would anyone want to walk away from that, and, the end users just love all the great service they’re getting as a result of these well conceived policies.

The “leadership” is very in touch with what goes on, we care!

The special separation package only applies if you volunteer, are rejected and you are riffed BEFORE July 1. Anything after July 1, you get whatever package they dream up......no guarantee of 2/35 weeks.

But it's also in the FAQ that if you volunteer and they elect to keep you that IF you get RIF at a later date the special separation package will apply!

And if you don't volunteer yet you get RIF at a later date, the normal separation package will apply!

Better read all of the information before you just walk away . . . .

If you VOLUNTEER and dont get picked , you can kiss your career aspirations at VZ good bye and you can bet the ranch you WILL be on the next RIF list

Probably depends on department & role. I don't think they'll let anyone in RF Engineering, Network Assurance or System Performance leave right now. Other departments they'll probably takes as many people as possible while still keeping the lights on. Hearing the goal is anywhere from 10%-20% overall headcount reduction.
