If all the management is being offered a buyout who's left to supervise the union represented employees? What are they going to be doing? The four-year contract extension protects them but truly the protection is only there if they are before 2003.

Where did the post go that had the Hans 10 point plan of big change that was coming? It detailed out with timelines up until June or July as the final step. It reflected month-over-month RIFs and an end goal of only Verizon Wireless. It was posted and then removed. Repost it?

Everyone Union and non-union alike are overworked these days. How can you operate efficiently with half the staff? Is every position going to be filled by infosystems or some like company overseas?

Facts need to be laid out. Either this was an incredible tactic of fear that has scared everyone into jumping ship or there are serious changes coming that no one is sharing. Maybe a tactic to get rid of the Union?

I have got a job at Verizon as a Data Scientist. I am in my early 30’s. What is your suggestion regarding joining Verizon? Should I consider the offer and join Verizon?
iwaq The other 41 states wireline is union as well. There may be a few scab areas in the south but not many. You know stupid southerners tend to be.

@1ydh I was told call center supervisors got it. They have direct reports, at least 20 each.
I would guess that quite a large fraction of these managers have no reports at all and certainly don't supervise union members. Most "managers" in IT for example are individual contributors. VZ just uses the term to mean non-associate

Seems like the writing is on the wall. It looks like this is the beginning of the end of wireline. I think we will all be outsourced or sold off. Very unsure of what Verizon is going to look like. I thought I would retire in this company but doubt it will happen. Should have known something like this would happen as soon as Lowell left followed by other leadership when Hans took over
As a FIOS Field Technician, my duties are to repair, install, and maintain the network also I'm to sell products and services upgrade to new packages and educate the customer on all Verizon has to offer.
Included in my duties I'm responsible for all my time off requests and time sheets, also I'm responsible for all my training which is on my tablet sometimes the in the customers living room while on a repair.
I'm responsible to engineer the plant/network when the terminals or assignments are completely wrong
I'm responsible to get the orders fixed when written incorrectly.
I'm responsible to deliver what the customer wanted in the first place and not what I showed up to do.
I'm responsible for my vehicle all it's fleet maintenance, gas and keys.
I"m responsible for contacting the customer before and after each visit and the arrival and commitment times
I'm responsible for all my tools which is now in vending machines for easy access
My manager is responsible for telling me to do it faster so his/her numbers will justify their job......... which is to tell me to do it faster.
What would I do without my manager?

@ltd is one of those dummies who thinks his cell phone is a walkie talkie (transmitting directly from one phone to another rather than going thru a landline built/ maintained fiber/copper network). He also doesn't know that the great product FIOS is wireline built and maintained. Hey ltd, get educated on a subject before giving your opinion.!
I’d think investors of the company want to know as well what Verizon is doing. The reported union surpluses are mediocre and amount to less than 5% of the count. Whether the union and company agree to more than the reported surpluses is anyone’s guess.
I expect and might reach out to some analysts through a Bloomberg terminal to inquire that these questions will be asked in the next investors conference 10/23/18.
