Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Is it true about the managers having to make payroll from actual cash disbursements from the cash office??

Rather than the way payroll is traditionally handled, where the hours are put in by the OA at each store and submitted to corporate's servers for processing and direct deposit?

As far as I know, the ONLY time a manager pays someone out of the cash office is when someone quits or is fired. It is only required in some states. In other states, you wait for your last check. Making payroll out of the cash office to all the associates is unheard of. This sounds concerning!

Somebody from a few posts back said that managers were on a call and were told how to handle payroll. It was said that the managers were to take cash from the cash office safe and disburse the amounts due to all the employees on payday. See @VkUA2AF-fzc and @VkUA2AF-vki.

I don't know what to believe. Some of the things I've heard on here have been far out in left field, but turn out being true. Other things are just rumors or even lies, so to me, this could be true or false.

Cash don't bounce. Take it if they offer it. Might be your last anyway.

O.P. that is just crazy talk. First, there is not enough money in any store to be able to pay the payroll. Second, I am sure the IRS would not like that employees are being paid with cash and not documented in the system. Third, if this were true, are they going to back a truck full of money to each store and then do payroll by the honor system? Fourth, if they know what they owe you and SHC has the cash why would they go through all the trouble and legal ramifications to pay from the store level.

Cash is cash, pay is pay. Whether it comes from HE or the store level it is still money that has to be paid. Don;t worry, you will get paid by check. Now if the check is good is another thing.

And on top of it, most of the transactions in the store is in credit not cash, there wouldn’t be enough cash to make payroll. How dumb.

Someone has been posting this BS for the last 3 months “Sears doesn’t have cash to make payroll” so now they’ve changed their story to make it believable. They have been saying BK is imminent for the last 2 years.

You will get your check just like you always have, there is no imminent cash shortage. These guys are posting this for their own amusement.

I’m fact I will go out on a limb and say you are good until 2020, come January 2020 all bets are off.

If stores were paid in cash, that could leave enough in the coffers to issue checks to Hoffman.

I think it’s fake no way can it be true. How would Hoffman be paid? Out of the snack shop paybox?
