Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Losers Who Will Do Anything to WFH

I know of at least 4 people who were given return to office locations recently. Their solution? They all got doctors notes somehow excusing them based on "sensitivity to fluorescent lights" and "severe headaches". There must be some validity as I don't see how any doctor would make up something like this. Apart from this there are actually people who are quitting their jobs over being returned to the office! Unbelievable!! I bet the people being laid off would happily sit in the seats these people were assigned.

I don't believe it is an entitlement but that comment is probably why CB is so pissy about doing away with telecommuting for all associates. For me, it was an offer for a flexible work arrangement 22 years ago to work from home and I accepted it. The bank had just started their marketing campaigns as family first and being environmentally friendly which I guess isn't so important any longer. I did decide where I want to live and will decide where I want to work when they fire me for not returning to the office.

It was your choice to live A certain distance from work. I don’t get why some people think they are entitled to work from home.

I agree that being asked to return to the office is pretty minor compared to those who have been in the office and were laid off.

To put it simply, if you are asked to return you have options, if you are laid off you really only have one.

SPOT ON: 'It's a way to thin the herd without paying severance. Simple. WFH was to save the planet by removing commuters and their pollution? Doing our part to alleviate congestion in cities? Screw that! We need headcount reduction and we need it cheap! Tell a bunch to come back in so they will quit. We reduce headcount, we don't contribute to traffic because they quit instead of coming in, and we can still say we are saving the planet. There's really no other explanation.'

I was told to expect the call in November with a return to office date of March 1. It would be sooner but managers are scrambling getting exceptions for their groups with projects in process and don't want to lose SMEs prior to install dates. Why does Working Mother magazine not see that doing away with WFH and cutting people this way without severance pkg hurts working moms??? BofA always on their list! I'm fortunate my kids are almost grown. Feel bad for young moms.

It's funny how people get a doctor's note to WFH but never have a restricting condition in their social media posts.

For most people returning to the office after many years is a pay cut. Add travel costs, time, tolls, clothes, dry cleaning and meals out, not to mention additional child care. Without additional pay. Can’t blame them, best job market in years. Good luck to them!

Your logic is flawed. Lots of people being asked to return to the office have a 1+ hour commute each way. If I were given that option I would sure as heck get a Drs note. Jobs are everywhere and I’m not that desperate
