Associates Paid with SYW Points

I have it on good authority that there is a proposal to start paying associates in SYW Reward points rather than currency. Just as they took away our discount and offering points instead, they are seriously considering paying in points.

What a brilliant idea to encourage more spending in our four walls!

It's probably just another BS troll post, but theoretically they could pay minimum wage in real money, and the rest of your former wage in points.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. They are going to pay associates with Chuck E Cheese tokens not SYW points.

Yeah no way this would happen. Could you imagine the mass exodus of associates in both Sears and Kmart stores if this were to happen?! They would be committing economic s---c-de!!

The payment of wages in scrip is illegal under the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938. So no way this could happen

The Mexican Supreme Court ordered WalMart to stop doing that. In the US (and basically everywhere else in the civilized world), company scrip has been illegal for about a hundred years.

are they also considering having associates shop at the company store for food, gas and other essentials?

Why not pay associates with shares of stock, it's worth about a buck a share anyways.

this may technically be legal. as late as 2008 Walmart Mexico was paying employees in Walmart certificates. just google up "company scrip"

Critical thinking is clearly a lost art. Despite the fact that this would be ILLEGAL, how can any thinking person believe this is even a possibility?

If it's true, I can't fathom. Seriously, they should just close shop and associates should plan their exit strategy. Shop your way points don't pay the bills and rent.
