Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What happened to Oracle’s Data Centre strategy?

Ask anyone at Oracle what happened to their recently announced global data centre strategy and you are met with a lengthy silence. Something has happened and the plans seems to have stopped dead in their tracks with little clarity or direction. With tK gone confusion and Stagnant decision making seems to be the order of the day reflecting a real crisis in strategy’s and leadership.

No more funds to support due to buybacks? Cutting back global investments? Aquiring a company with existing infrastructure? Catering to trump politics around the DOD decision?

Why leave such a gaping hole in direction to be filled by pure speculation? Here in SFO the silence from HQ is LOUD!

Waste money on DCs when you can just buy back stock? Get real! And oh, yes, Don’t forget SC is an I-banker

Data centers are a huge investment, especially if trying to compete with the top tier Clouds who have each invested tens of billions in infrastructure. Oracle has chosen to invest its billions into stock buybacks to prop up the stock price, so pursuing a massive expansion is going to be difficult unless they are planning to leverage the

higher corporate valuation (based on the higher stock price) to borrow money.

Everything is now completely up in the air.

It is not possible at this point to predict anything.....

....except, I expect the continuous rolling layoffs will continue as the ship continues to go down.

Now the genius who declared to cloud was of no relevance, will set the cloud strategy all by himself. And that ladies and gentlemen is the end of oracle. Over and out!

But that genius, LE, thinks that "cloud" is just a marketing term! So, no changes necessary. Just update the slide deck and move on! LOL!

No cloud offerings, no cloud customer, no cloud revenues = no need for DCs. What more evidence do you need that oracle is Titanic 2!

You guys are way off - there are over a dozen data centers opening in 2019.

This is obviously a plan. Things can change. No customers.... no data centers.

Oracle just reported, September 17 - Q1 FY19 earnings, that Capex spending declined 25% Y/Y. You don't need to spend $ on data centers when there isn't any data to store. LOL
