I find it fascinating to observe the last group of people still at Sears. I was there a few years back and most of the top performers from my team have left; some moved on to better companies in higher roles. The talk of bankruptcy has been in the air for years. Why are people still with Sears? Others proudly announcing they will ride it out?
I think the last of the Mohicans are not commendable nor brave. They are the same type of people who stay in abusive relationships year after year because it’s comfortable. They think that they can get their last check and transition over to a new job swiftly and smoothly. Well, reality will hit these Type D people. First off, if you are laid off and applying for work, it will take forever to get a job. Companies discriminate against the unemployed. Secondly, if you claim you lack skills and education- you are a lazy pig. You could have re-trained or re-skilled these past few years while you waited.
The point is, you have no one to blame but yourself. You had years of information and did nothing. Shame on you.
