Thread regarding Sears layoffs

OK, Speculation is over...

Mark Johnson, the guy who closed Toys R Us, really has been hired by Sears. Google it if you don't believe it. I thought maybe it was another rumor until I checked it out. At this point anyone saying that Sears isn't filing bankruptcy soon has zero credibility.

Yes. Johnson is not to blame for the state of Toys R Us or SHC but overseeing the bankruptcy process probably does not require someone making a huge salary and I am certain he's getting one from these bankrupt companies. His salary could be used for associate severance.

Mark Johnson was not at fault at Toys R Us. They had already gone down the tubes when he got there. He was only at Toys R Us for a little over a year when they filed BK. His specialty is helping companies through BK to getting them out of it

What a job to have. You get paid very well to oversee a bankruptcy. Essentially you can do no wrong. The company has already failed so there is no way you can make it worse. What is the standard? No matter what happens the stores, DCs, corporate offices close and people lose their jobs. You need a couple of people to stay to run the final payroll, archive the records and turn out the lights. You don't need a highly paid person for this.

Nope. Not a secret. Just unbelievable. A company can go bankrupt without paying this guy.

This was announced last month, wasn’t kept secret either. There is one reason he was hired, and one reason he would join a company in the shape Sears is in - he’s here to “lead” us through the bankruptcy process.

An email was sent out to all corporate employees the day he was announced. When I read “Toys R Us” in the email I laughed out loud.

Their stupid corporate jargon double-speak makes me f---ing sick.

My favorite part is how he is a Proven Leader. Of a failed company.

It is sickening that Lampert would hire this man. And what is his salary?

Yeah, look up Mark Daley Johnson on LinkedIn. It says he was just hired by Sears corporate in Sep 2018. Here's what his new job description says:

Aligning team to expand our retail approach beyond traditional Brick & Mortar transactional engagement to relation building as we address the ever changing lifestyle and shopping expectations of our Members."
