Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Quotas need to be eliminated

Quotas need to be eliminated. On the surface quotas look like a win win win situation, instead they are the death of quality and quality improvement.

Eliminate quotas that are unachievable!! replace the mentality of quotas and shift our mentality to behaviors and goals. managers set the bar too high that its not achievable and than sales reps will do unethical practices to hit their numbers....i see this on a daily basis, its not right, customers are being scammed and lied to and I think it will eventually get out to mainstream media.

We go to these trainings to "do whats right for the customer" to work with ethics and at the end of the day there is a number to hit, and upper managers are turning a blind eye to anyone that is doing these unethical tactics to hit numbers. Also these same upper managers are reprimanding the sales reps that do not practice unethical behaviors because its virtually impossible to hit quotas, but are praising and promoting the sales reps that are at the top of leaderboard because they sell with no integrity.

This needs to be fixed!! this needs to change, our mentality needs to change, we need to shift focus on "numbers" and put all our effort into behaviors.

you must eliminate targets. Focus on the process and system details that make the production. Don't focus on the end results, place your efforts into the details. Improvement comes with being hands on within the given area.

Quotas are not needed. There are sales job out their that dont rely on quotas. The way VZW uses them is a means of punishment and make it easier to get rid of someone. The team that sets the quota knows what theyre doing the intention is to reduce com pay out and increase the likely hood of write ups.

I am a--. I compared last November goals to this November, this year is 40 devices higher (when only phones count) and roll up is almost 5 grand higher. I talked to my DM about it and asked him why it's so high, he replies with "the team that sets the goals knows what they are doing"..

Basically they know how to get people to want to leave the company. 4 people have left my store within the past 6 months because of things like this. We are short staffed, already the busiest store in the state, our quotas are higher because we are short staffed, but that much higher? Come on Verizon..

The reps that still work here are running around everyday like a chicken with a head cut off, I don't remember the last time there wasn't a queue, I don't remember the last shift I had where I was able to take a lunch break. We get asked daily if we want to come in for overtime, I don't think one person has. What does that tell you about this company? It is so diferent from when I was hired when they actually cared about a work/life balance

Honestly I think that these unethical practices are noticed up to the district manager level, I think that anyone higher than a DM doesn't know that these shady practices are happening. If upper management only knew how these people were really selling.

It's so ironic that it's all about quotas and numbers on the store level but than all these managers head to a week training which is all about behaviors and to not talk about numbers and after they come back it's back to the way it was prior to that meeting

I remember when i worked there during the introduction of edge plan. I had a coworker who would tell every customer that to get the new phone they could pay $200 plus a contract OR they just had to pay $200 in the store AND you get all these accessories with it.... (he called it a down payment) so many people came in complaining that he lied.. etc etc... point is he became a Gm. Thats the kind of people verizon promotes.

How many have heard sales reps tell customers to cancel an existing line while doing a BOGO?

Quotas need to stop, we need to take back our morale, I am done working with low morale because of these unrealistic targets they want us to hit...
