Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

I'm the loser who does anything to WFH

Unlike the winner who posted @Vl7UWzK;

I love to work from home. It allows me to have a better quality of life. During lunch break I can cook my own meals, work out when I feel like it, schedule appointments, fix car when it needs repair, etc.

If being a winner means being unhappy and jealous of others; I'll rather be a loser.

I am a My Work Associate and when I am forced to go into a hub, it will add 4 hours a day to a current zero hour commute. I am already working 60+ hours a week, and during various hours. I just do not see the benefit of making 100% of My Work folks to return to an office....

The point folks are missing is if there is no work from home, then you’re tied to a site. If you’re not near a core site, then there’s a very good chance that site could close. Of course there are many employees already in a situation where the site they use to work from is now closed and they will have no option but to move across the country. We’re going to lose a lot of great talent by forcing people to relocate to core locations.

Most studies show that remote working boosts employee productivity and helps the corporate bottom line by reducing occupancy costs. So why is BAC keen on cutting remote workers? Headcount reduction. It's an easy way to side-step all complaints of discrimination AND avoid layoff expense.

BAC can't measure in-house productivity. Never mind providing good company-wide collaboration tools. How could BAC know what is best for productivity?

Millennials communicate over facebook and snapchat even when they're in the same room. To them - BAC is transforming back into a dinosaur.

My commute is an hour. That is 2 hours that I used to be able to give easily when I was WFH. But they changed that and said I needed to be in an office to take advantage of "face-to-face collaboration." I was the only member of my time in this state, so now I lose 2 hours of productivity to drive in and sit alone and do the same work while staring at a wall. But, now I have wear & tear on my car, wardrobe expense, and gasoline to pay for. There is no reason for it other than they want to screw with people. Period.

So you were able to do all those things during a one hour break each day or were you working on your car while you should have been at your desk?

As far as being sent to a mortgage office, you were given a break. If there was no other office within your area, you could have been told to move or resign.

OP here.

Forgot to mention when I work from home I'm one of the most (if not the most) efficient member(s) of the team.

I guess all the smoke/coffee breaks, impromptu meetings and b---s---ing around impact your productivity after all.

I was sent back to a home loans mortgage office. it is a small office with only 2 loan officers. the scheduled hours are 9 - 5, but the loan officers only come in if they have appointments. now my management wants me in office when it is open but online at home when the office isn't open. the other day I went the office, only to find out that the loan officer made an appointment with the client at another location, so I had to drive back home to work. I lost a couple of hours and missed a meeting. this is so stressful. I feel like a yo-yo. is anyone else dealing with this?

The bank closes branches to deal remotely with clients - but insists employees need to be at an office. Where's the sense in that?

Amen! I went back into the office 3 years ago. I never see lunch or a workout. I lost pay with the cost of commuting. And I never log in after hours or on weekends because frankly they already get 10 hours a day..which I did regularly when I worked from home...done
