Thread regarding Sears layoffs

We get bankruptcy, Amazon workers get $15 minimum pay

Well, at least we know where we should be applying for a job once Sears is no more. Amazon is rising the minimum wage for all of its workers (and I mean all of them - hourly and seasonal included) to $15.

@VrHJepk-1jec That's what people get for wanting to have the minimum wage super high to begin with.

@VrHJepk-kot

Same thing happens at sears!

I will never understand how those people that have busted butt to get at their $15.00 hourly rate and now all of a sudden all new hires will be making e exactly what you’ve busted butt to get to

Something is seriously wrong with that situation but same thing at sears

It’s just so wrong.. big slap in the face to those who have really worked hard to get to that rate

@VrHJepk-fhl I spent over five years at a company and I wasn't paid much more than what I started when I left. That lesson I learned is very valuable to my career. Don't believe anyone who told you they will take care of you and you will move up and get better job with better pay if you dedicated to the company. Chances are that it will happen is very low. Best way to get better pay is to look for a new job every couple years. If you really were a superstar at your current company they will make a counter offer to keep you.

I make 18.50 and hour working at sears. I have been with the company for over 15 years and remember when they gave raises.

A large number of associates make more than 15.00 an hour. We don't work in the stores. There is more to this company than store staff.

Let's go work for amazon.

Anyhow, how are they going to fix the problem with legacy employees.

For example, there is a lot of people working for amazon that spent five , six or more years climbing the ladder and doing hard work to reach $15/hr. Now they will stay at $15/hr but the new employee, joining right now will be paid the same.

This is a problem.

It's easier to find a job while you still have one. Without income you will be forced to take almost anything to provide for your family.

Do it now....why would you wait until Sears shuts the door to apply for a better position/pay?
