Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

After 10 years at Verizon.. I'm gonna sign up for it. Every 6 months it's RIF RIF RIF lol. At least with this one you get a better severance package than the normal one. And.. if not enough volunteers.. will be involuntary rif... and less money. And whoever is left gets more work for the same pay. "do more with less" There is life after Verizon. For those who leave.. always remember. There is life after Verizon.

You are VERY valuable to the job market out there. And with the money.. could maybe even start a business or live out a dream.

When I initially watched RIF's begin, I immediately went to the Tuition Assistance program. 22+years with the company, I'm now nearly done with my undergrad. Additionally, my university sending me messages of potential employers. I'm thankful for Verizon and the opportunity to get my education, now hopeful I'm one of the chosen so that I can see what life is post after VZ. The timing couldn't be better...I just hope it works out.

I wish I was as optimistic. After the first RIF I started I began looking for options in the job market. Prospects don’t look so great but I do think I’m going to take it. In my 20 years I’ve seen so much change and while most of it was good, the past 5 years have seen this company turn into something I am no longer proud to work for. My concern though, is that I will find similar issues elsewhere. I wish I wasn’t so far from retirement.

you are sooooo right. take that money and go out there and GIT IT! VZW on your resume is a great door opener. You gotta know there is life after VZW. EVERYONE i know that has left is glad they did it. The time when this was the BEST Place to be has passed and it's been a great ride.
