$15 amazon minimum for US employees

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/10/02/amazon-raises-minimum-wage-to-15-for-all-us-employees.html

Anyone care to speculate if this applies to us? What about people who make this amount and have been around for years?

Amazon doesn’t care much about wfm operations. They’re now pushing for federal minimum brought to $15 ASAP. Amazon can afford the hit, they know their competitors can’t. Its part of something bigger than front end labor budgets.

Rate of pay goes up with no change to the labor percentage. Hours get cut due to labor not being increased. Increase in pay is completely negated by the cut in hours. Paychecks stay the same or go down. They think we are too stupid to figure it out. Bring on the Union. Higher pay plus the correct hours is the only acceptable solution.

I could see this pushing to end gainsharing altogether. Teams at first are missing labor by a large margin and they justify eliminating gainshares because everyone just got a big bump and they aren't getting it anyway. They then ramp up expectations, cut hours and positions which in the end save them labor and all of the money that would have gone to gainshare is saved.

No capitalist machine like this gives handouts. They know what they are doing. Something has to give. Expect sh-- raises, eliminated titles and combined teams going forward.

I found WFM to be one huge mind game. Mind f_ _ _! STL loved to say something on one day and just the opposite the next to keep all leaders off balance, stressed out and confused as to what he really wanted. Oddly enough he really wanted to keep us stressed out, etc. Regional leadership was the same. Mean spirited people that laughed about dept leaders and tms behind their backs. Maybe not all stores are like that, here again to give people $15.00 an hour and cut hours isn’t doing anything. Just looks like they are doing something wonderful, but it’s a mind game. Bezo bought the right company. WFM is the best at mind f_ing their employees.

Poster -ifhu is right, you people will never be happy and money doesn't buy happiness. If you want to be happy then you may have to leave WFM. its not the end, only a better beginning and the road will be hard, I choose to be listen to my soul not my paycheck. The great Jimmy Cliff said " i would rather be a free man in my grave, then live as your puppet or slave" Today was another wonderful sunrise, did you see it?

Speculative capital??? How is it speculative when it goes into effect November 1st and covers all TMs? If anything gainsharing is speculative, even when labor budgets were slightly inflated.

Team members over 6k service hours supposedly get stock grants...id rather have a 1$raise and bring back labor budgets so i can get gainsharing..real money for real work not speculative capital...

You people will never be happy. Gtfo with this slap in the face business. Higher minimum wages have to start somewhere. Don’t like it, there’s the door and you can go. Have fun finding another job that will pay you $15 minimum.

It's a slap in the face of the tms who had to beg like dogs on that stupid job dialog for pennies on the dollar raise year after year.

Shame that so much talent and retail knowledge was lost over the last 36 months as senior leadership knee-jerked through decision after decision. WFM has taken many hits, it will take a while to rebuild.

You're under $15/hr because you're lazy. Too lazy to read the entire article, lazy at work, lazy in life.

There has to be more to this tech rollouts to eliminate positions self checkout auto replenishment. No way other changes to save money won’t come down to even out the money they are putting out to pay TM more.
