Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

This is why there will be no packages for retail

Stop expecting “buyouts” or “packages” from retail. You ever see a special package for Best Buy employees? No? The reason is they have no value and can be easily replaced. This is the same thing with you.

This might not be what most of you want to hear, but this is it in a nutshell. Sad, but very much true.

Former 7 year sales rep here.

Sadly I agree with everything that has been said. I was there for so long because I was complacent and making average $70k/yr seemed good enough for all the stress retail and terrible Verizon management brought on. Thankfully I got a degree on Verizon's dime and put it to use and left the company recently.

Verizon did a RIF on retail Experience Specialists because that whole position was made redundant Nationwide. They got lucky.

Retail sales reps and managers version of a RIF is the continually reduced commissions and eventual store closures. They are slowly demotivating you so that you will leave voluntarily or not. You don't get anything in retail.

I am not arguing with the message, but the reason seems to be incorrect

Lets say some skill is not easily replaceable. Why would you give them a package? They would be leaving anyway right

While I don't agree with the delivery of this message, it is very true! If your waiting for a package don't waste anymore of your time. Sadly they will not offer packages to retail employees.
