I just had a death in family, showed up to work after a day and got laid off when they knew I lost a loveone, they still did not wait a say or two. Boss told me 4weeks ago thanks for being a top performer and doing a great job for us and now all sudden laid off. Then learned I was selected and the co-worker who does always personal things during work hours, comes late, and leaves early was selected to stay and have a job just because I was not on the managers friend list. Shameful how they select people based on who is friend with them. Holidays almost here and they done this with no shame.

Sorry to hear this, but not surprised at all. JP Morgan Chase is a c-ap company. I was brought out to an overseas assignment by JP Morgan Asset Management, sold my house in the US, then after assurances I was doing a good job, was laid off after less than 2 years to save costs ("we're eliminating your job; you're being terminated), leaving me high and dry. JP Morgan treats people like dirt. Big talk about empowerment, diversity, etc. but - wait a minute - damn few employees over 50.
It's sad to say this but Chase is a deplorable company. You will be let go so the proper attitude is to do the absolute least that you can to stay employed so that when you are axed you can say "I can't believe I was kept on as long as I was." Sad but this is the attitude Chase fosters. Going above and beyond will leave you very angry when shown the door.
the CTO said that 50% job reductions by 2020, that is lot of people, get ready!!!!! you may be next, and remember you m,manager does not have a say on who goes or stays.
people can't see this lists btw, they are called pre-termination lists and are issued by HR periodically.
