40 or so more days to go back and forth between two possibly horrible options and then 7 more days to second guess yourself before you get to wait a month to find out if they’ll even let you go.

Wheres your rock now ,oh you tied the big rocks to your employees feet
Run and thank them for paying you to leave. VZ does not want or need you and will continue to downsize. There is life after VZ, time for a change. Many companies will be happy to hire a former VZ management employee.
I feel the same as OP. I'm wavering back and forth. My preference is to stay.
be glad you have the option. Sick is having no option.
@zwd amen to that
I find this amazing, that people on here are trying to find solace with this Vz environment on a layoff board where there is nothing but bad news for years. Unless off course they are getting enjoyment mudding the water ,taking advantage .
Change is always difficult. You cannot imagine what goes on in the other guy's mind. Just write down the options you have and their effects. And take the best route possible
Best of luck. I am one of the rebadged guys wishing I was offered the package
I’m sick I wasn’t offered this package.
To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
The union has a new 5 year contract with nice pay increases and increases in their pension over the last two contracts. Retire health benefits and pension that's much betters then managements. As management employees the company has gone back on their word and screwed us.
Well your Brethren caught in the INFOSYS mess get 7 days to decide on something that is a life changing event and have little or information to base decisions on. You're lucky.
On our staff call this week, our team manager told us that 99.999% of people who volunteer for the separation will be separated. It's a near guarantee that if you volunteer you will be picked. The company is looking to cut costs, big time.
I was joking in the first reply. My apologies.
On the bright side, it is nice to be afforded time, rather than having to jump to a rash decision. It gives you an opportunity to put out feelers and trst the waters.
It’s also nice to be afforded the opportunitt to actually make the decision at all, rather than having it thrust upon you.
And, in keeping with the glass is half full outlook, it is a generous offer and, according to some posters here, backed by unemployment in some locales.
Change is hard, and can be depressing in the moment, but I see very few retired people looking unhappy or stressed.
Think of it as a gift, of time. Personally I volunteered and now have at least 3 months to prepare, get certifications I've been putting off, freshen up the resume and LinkedIn and look around at options. Even if I'm not approved and I work while taking that 60 weeks I can be prepared come what may. The company showed its hand. No more complacency here.
Nah not alone.. the next 2 months will be hell!
Yes.
You are quite alone in your indecision.
