Sure, and probably for a while, but they're not exactly doing fantastic either and probably aren't really that far behind Sears.

After all the job cuts they had in and around 2012, including my own, and how poorly they were doing in that period, honestly I'm surprised they're still hanging in there to the extent that they are six years later. Though like Sears, it is probably only a matter of time and it eventually may catch up with them. They never exactly fully bounced back from that that terrible CEO was allowed to do to them for a year that helped put them in that hole in the first place.

As it is my own Sears was axed in April, supposedly chosen because of the rent in that shopping center, despite being a better one in our district. And a Penney's is a neighbor to our now former Sears. If the rent is no doubt just as pricey for them there, well I wish them well. Maybe the loss of our store will boost their customers a bit.

JCP should be fine until about 2020. That's when most of their debt is coming due.

Main product is clothing. Too many times black has faded to gray on THE FIRST WASH. What's the point of them if quality is the same as the absolute cheapest c-ap online. They'll survive if they can shift to sublease type of spaces for specific retailers kinda like lands end in sears or samsung in best buy

I hope they do survive. I like JC Penney. The employees at my local store say they are treated okay too. They encourage me to come on board. I don't want to hurt feelings but the uncertainty is too similar to Sears for me.

Don't think anyone here cares about jcpenney. Why ask here?

Maybe JCPenney will become the new sears. Now that they have appliances they should bring back lawn and garden, tools, sporting goods, etc! They could even buy Kenmore for cheap after bankruptcy. Maybe even revive the old Jcp auto centers. Lol

If they can outlast Sears (which they probably will), it might buy JC Penney a bit more breathing room.

Probably. They are in terrible shape but not down to needing to turn off lights to make payroll. They'll likely be the next to go after Sears.
