Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Really, HR?

I was checking out Indeed and one of the latest reviews (from two days ago) is titled - and I kid you not - "A company that rewards employees exponentially"

And one of the lines in there is "The employees are all excited to work for such a successful, thriving, and energetic company, and, of course, excited to work with coworkers who share the same excitement. "

Are you kidding me??? At least TRY to make it look legit if you are going to stuff positive reviews. People tell me, do you know ONE person who works for Verizon who would actually write that without laughing their a-- off?

I'm recalling an email subject line that went out earlier in the year. It read: "Why Verizon? #letstalksuicide". It was unintentional fodder for departmental gallows humour for months.

OMG. The reviews are beyond absurd. I will never trust another indeed review again. Need to do your own homework. All propaganda.

Several Verizon employees were RIF'd in June, and most were over 50 yrs old and had 20+ years tenure at Verizon. As a result, they received Verizon's 35-week standard severance policy.

At the time, one of the individual's manager openly claimed, this was Best for XXX XXX, as he was close to retirement and now gets a nice package! What really made this A_ _ Clown look beyond ridiculous, is that this same individual was suing the company for age discrimination, and was successful!! Verizon negotiated a better deal for this individual, rather than face a lawsuit.

What's even more unfortunate, is all of the other individuals only received the 35-week severance, while it's now obvious the enhanced severance package had been in the works for months!!

I remember some exec saying (apparently seriously) that employees are loyal and happy with VZ, even when they have been RIFd. Maybe there are some who tell the company "Oh, I will sign the release, but please keep the payment, you can use it better than me!)
