Not sure if anyone saw they are offering pre-offer decision help through Verizon.
As I sit and rot at my desk I figured I’d check it out and it just seems aweful biz spin meaningless bullet points.
I’m wondering if anyone had any experience with the so called outplacement service Verizon offers and if it is actually something or just a similar bunch of videos or webinars with gibberish.
Lhh is a useless company . It is a biller if services . Companies who offer Lhh to laid off workers are trying to dodge a bullet . PR and legal stuff.
So with that in mind ignore Lhh , and just start looking for work on your own .
You can google for free and get all the advise you need on resumes!
Was hit in November 17 too. LHH revised my resume which I liked their improvements although minor tweaks only. Other than that, LHH is there to give you warm fuzzies so you don't commit s---c-de or shoot up the office on the day you get cut. They didn't help much and their job finding tool was horrible. Tool gave links to job postings that were VERY old and already filled.
In the end i would up using my skills and certs and going to work for the government in the intelligence community in the NCR. Having a TSC/SCI you can't outsource my work and finding a replacement is hard.

They are a good starting point. I was laid off after 25 years in 2017. I haven’t interviewed or done a resume for that many years. I dealt with a person who I spoke with two times to review my resume. That was the only time I was able to deal one on one with a warm body. Resume helpful to tweak as time went on. The rest of their seminars -meh. Get ready for rejection and learn from it. I got a job six months later and it pays way less than Verizon. Good luck to all.
LHH "redid" my resume and changed it to a barely literate, copy and paste, chopped up mess, with copy and paste "notes" about how to improve it. Probably done by a program or someone being paid $8 an hour. Absolutely useless.
They also sent a few (about one a week) "job matches" that usually link to Indeed.com or one of the other online job searches. These links are generally useless because they don't match my qualifications and are often for jobs that start at around $15 an hour. I could find dozens of better jobs, by doing my own searches, with the same search criteria they were using.
I feel sorry for anyone who actually pays for this.

I agree with this poster. I was RIFFed in May 2018. They are understaffed, but will help you build a decent resume if you do your part. Everyone I've met there has been professional and helpful, but won't do your job search for you.
If you've not looked for a job in more than 3 years, go thru their prerecorded material. It's relevant and helpful. After you get past the shock and awe, take the time to follow their program. It has merit.
They will also ring in specialists, such as 401k transition or how to get health insurance if you end up as a 1099 contractor. These are pretty useful onsite meetings.
I especially recommend you review the LHH resume, and related webinars and especially linkedin information, as that is probably #2 after personal networking for job leads that actually convert to legit interviews (so far). Use meetup.com to look for professional meetup's pertinent to your skills to build your network.
By the way, get a support network, it can get lonely, and you will feel useless, unproductive, etc... as LHH says, unemployment is your situation, not your identity. Get a productive routine going including exercise. (Can't emphasize how exercise has helped me and I HATE exercise.)
Consider cooking some of those complex recipes you never had time for or finally fixing the photo album, or other tasks so when you're not looking you can feel like you're still a productive human being. While you will be hunting for a job a lot, you need to have some healthy outlets.
Finally, don't take this personally. VZ is trying to survive and stay relevant just like you. I've met plenty of non-VZ unemployed in my little trial and NO ONE has a package as good as mine... and I only got two weeks/per year. Some of these fellow unemployed folks worked for big pharma and other companies rolling in dough.
I will always value my tenure at Verizon.

LHH is worthless garbage.
I used LHH when I was RIFd in 2017. The major value then was help with the resume. For those that haven't been in the job market for a long time, resume expectations have changed (I was also told this by other sources) and they are willing to critique and help you build a new resume. They also have a jobs board and lots of online classes (but you can find better ones, at least technical ones, on Youtube).
