Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

So, Is Verizon Implying 44,000 Employees Are Doing Nothing?

They're dropping -- theoretically -- 44,000 employees, but I haven't heard of any products they're dumping. It sounds to me like they imagine 44,000 employees are playing twiddly-winks all day, every day.

Or do they just think their customers will keep buying what they're selling with 44,000 less people to support their products?

VLSS the biggest waste...most of the people I know that were "selected" for VLSS have been RIF'D or left the company. The id--ts that were in VLASS...A-- didnt even realize that they were working on projects that ended up contributing to their own demise.

"The big reason it's top heavy is because the RIFed the snot out of the rank and file..."

Yep -- pretty soon each person who actually works will have three supervisors, wanting three separate reports every day, while riding him for not getting anything done.

The big reason it's top heavy is because the RIFed the snot out of the rank and file yet only once that I can remember did they RIF sometime at the ED level. You'll see managers get taken out and teams packed under them in the hopes of gaining "synergies" but above that not much collapses.

I would say the number of do nothings is much higher than 44,000. Do nothings to me include the following:

Powerpoint deck masters

Excel formula fixers

Conference call kings

VTeam cheerleaders. Up to speed anyone?

Report runners

AD's and ED's of busy work and bull$hit

Propaganda pushers and Credo Criers - Erwin and Gerace are two worthless leaders who excel in this area of worthlessness

All of VLSS

And thats just off the top of my mind. This company is so full of bloat you could cut half and the machine will keep working without skipping a beat. Especially the layers of AD's, Directors, VP's and EVP's. This place is so top heavy its a fricken joke.

Actually Jesus told me I was "sort of OK, just" but said that a lot of the other people offered were "real worthless dregs. Don't know what Dad was thinking of,"

Don't take is personally. If you got the severance offer it means you are worthless and not needed for the success of the company. Be thankful for myriad of employment protection laws in place (WARN, etc.) otherwise you would just show up to work one day and someone from HR would be there...tell you to pack up your sh*t and get the hell out.....This is the way it used to be.

My advice, verizon may consider you worthless but Jesus does not.

Accept the offer and move forward to the wonderful life Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has planned for you.

YOU ARE NOT WORTHLESS! YOU ARE ONLY WORTHLESS TO VERIZON!

Maybe if they didnt waste money on stupid..useless products such as GO90 we wouldnt be in such a mess. The best part of GO90 was the a*s kissers in my office trying to plug it while everyone else knew it was a complete failure. CRINGE WORTHY

What's the population of Basking Ridge? You could probably get rid of 90% of that place with no ill effect to the customers.

They will be very pleased if 10% take it. 2003 VSP offer to 74,000 employees take was 16% but that involved pensions.

If they wanted all 44k to go they wouldn’t make it voluntary.

I'm tickled every time someone posts how what percentage of the 44k 'they' are hoping separate. I'll be adding this thread to a calendar reminder for next year after you've see what 'they' have planned for you.

Essentially, the deal for the 44,000 workers forces them to resign and take the severance or stay on at the corporation until they are eventually laid off and not eligible to receive the hefty severance package.

Sad. I wish these workers the best.

the offer went to 44,000. they will not accept all 44,000 if they all volunteered. I've heard they are looking for 10-20% of that to take it.
