Anyone buying JC book?

How to stay 20 years too long and get 700 million out of a crony Board. Hey, I would buy that one!

It is a joke how much he is out trying to sell this.

JC was a vision less leader. Cloud was his biggest failure of all and put Cisco back a decade competing with the likes of AWS and other cloud providers.

Instead of marketing against the public cloud and if we embraced it without the fear of losing out on numbers to please the wall street for few quarters, we would have been much better shape now.

Yes, I would not waste my money on his book..

Toilet paper is more useful than JC’s so-called wisdom he’s spouting in the book. And good grief, read the kiss-butte reviews on Amazon. It’s enough to make you up-Chuck.

y'all are throwing good money away if you're using JC's book for TP. It's not worth the paper to wipe your butt with. You can buy a 12-roll pack at WallyWorld with the price his publisher is asking for.

@Vx9jG4H-6rzh I'm out of toilet paper too. Does it get the job done?

My entire wardrobe consists of Cisco T-Shirts that I purchased at the gift shop

I tried to use that t-shirt to wipe up dog vomit. The vomit actually moved away as if it didn’t want to be associated with the barfness Chuck and John oozes.

John Chambers-- Silicon Valley huckster. People buying his book proves the phrase, "There's a s---er born every minute" is alive and well.

Look for it on the $1 shelf at your nearby Salvation Army store soon.

MPLS was an utter slap in the face to Cisco engineering. This is, of course, my opinion, so I don't fully agree with it, but I think JC was so essentially insecure he didn't think he had the ability to lead an engineering group in technology,... so everything got outsourced. You can see that the acquisition strategy ensured that the folks who made those cool companies a success bailed and the flotsam remained,... kind of ' reverse Darwinism ' I'd say.

However, to be fair, I'll say again,... in the 90's Cisco was an incredible, dynamic, generous company to its employees.

how good were MPLS ? i have heard P good in execution and driving projects and L very technically sound in hw ? M is kind of semi-retired elder statesman and S along for the ride as part of the pkg plus very rude ?

their pensando venture with no spin-in...troops have allegedly been told to work for 5 years if they want good rewards .... some have jumped ship back to insiemi...so much for loyalty.

ok,... everyone has their opinions here, and of course I have mine,... I really think Judy Estrin and Andy Bechtolsheim in charge during the 90's would have put the company in much better shape after 2000. They understood the fundamentals,... JC could have stayed on as chief marketing huckster.

JC is just an ordinary salesman, I believe any randomly selected salesman inserted into the Cisco CEO role instead of JC would have produced a similar outcome. The Success of Cisco was due in large part to the internet, along with some really talented engineers and senior executives. If you want a real leader, look for people who actually founded companies from the ground up. If you promote a random salaryman grunt, don't get your hopes up.

Did you mean Mike Volpi?

He was just incapable of handling executives more talented and brighter than he,... Andy Bechtolsheim, Judy Estrin, Don Listwin, Andy Volpi, Jayshree Ullal... the list goes on. The acquisition strategy and spin-in were a complete slap in the face to engineering and after 2000 you could plainly see he had no idea how to manage a market transition. To be fair, during company meetings he was quite the talented bs artist.

Fuel costs are rising. He needs to be able to keep using his plane. Is he still renting it to Cisco?
