Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Infosys still wants the disgruntled Verizon IT employees?

Not sure why Infosys wants those disgruntled Verizon IT employees who wanted the Volunteer Separation Package (VSP) but weren't offered it. Do Infosys and Verizon really think that these employees are going to be "dedicated" under these circumstances especially knowing that their time in Infosys is short lived anyway? The whispers are to the contrary. Verizon executives may learn that no company can survive let alone compete without an efficient, dedicated IT organization. May be a good idea to sell your VZ stock. BOYCOTT un-American Verizon !!! Switch to another carrier. Send a message to corporate America - stop selling American jobs to India. At least offer the American employees a generous VSP if you do so. Much better strategy to keep former employees happy, especially if they will be handling your IT going forward.

Governement tax changes never have their intended affect. The companies are too greedy. Unless a protection is put in place, they will continue outsourcing stuff

Can't help but think that Verizon not offering the VSP to it's IT employees and given them a choice before selling the IT org to an Indian company is like pissing off your surgeon by being caught sleeping with his wife or by stealing money from his kids, the day before he operates on you.

The banked vacation hours are yours regardless. You could quit tomorrow and collect them.

Based off the emails going around and the dissent at the in person meetings I cannot see this working out at all for every involved party.

There are zero benefits in it for any worker being rebadged, and it's weird that they haven't even attempted to spin it as a positive.

I'm not sure if they are just trying to avoid having to offer severance pay to older workers. The meetings I've attended were mostly full of people who have been with VZW for 20+ years. Those are the people who have the most to lose out on this when their severance packages would be hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I personally haven't worked for VZW for nearly as long as they have, but when the options are collecting a severance package and finding a new job or just finding a new job; one sounds far better than the other.

I've already started interviewing at other places. I'm not even sure it's worth waiting around the total cluster f--- for the few thousand dollars I'd get from the gutted STI and 220 hours of vacation pay. This might be what they want to happen.

I very curious how this will play out since it seems so poorly planned and executed.

Offshore based companies don't have work-life balance.

They don't understand the business model while using the business model terminology for outsourcing you. No American wants to work for Indian company which is worse than what you have/had.

I've spent three years working for Infy and two years at CTS. Trust me, you do not want to work for them.
