I can view and post via VPN from London. IT wouldn’t have a clue what to do to block this. They cannot tie shoelaces let alone implement a rule.

Don’t think it’s thelayoff-dot-com, if you were blocked by them you could still view the site, but couldn’t make your own comments.

This website has a policy of blocking you from posting, but not viewing the site, and that’s only in case you violated one ot their rules (personal insults, profanity, slandering, using names and other personal info is not allowed). In that case, site admins nuke your post and block your IP from posting any further.

They did that to me while ago for mentioning a coworker, I’m using proxy ever since.

That's because we're posting to Thelayoff using the same IP address...

It's not blocked from TR side but because employees are accessing it from TR network, Layoff website is considering all requests as 1 source and therefore considering it a security threat and blocking it. If you are not blocked this means u r in a different pool.

Same office, same network, some people are recently blocked, whereas others are still not. It seems related to some sort of security configuration.

“Seriously why bother”

Well, yesterday someone who was being made redundant posted their own name, hr name and another name in a pasted email. Since deleted, but safer to block it to make it harder for that to happen again ...

It's still accessible within TR internal network.

Seriously, why bother, other than it might be a distraction and keep people from being productive (not that anyone's being productive whilst biting their nails and hiding from HR.) All you have to do is reach for your phone or just view it from home.

Do they (IT) really think they will stop people from accessing layoff news by blocking it on VPN? OK, if this was 1999 I'd say yes, but nowadays open internet access is everywhere.

@1sxe it's TheLayoff.com not layoffs.com

Just use your cell and disconnect from the network.

layoffs.com actually works on my VPN but yours may be configured differently.
