Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Rebadging to Infosys

Based off the emails going around and the dissent at the in person meetings I cannot see this working out at all for every involved party.

There are zero benefits in it for any worker being rebadged, and it's weird that they haven't even attempted to spin it as a positive.

I'm not sure if they are just trying to avoid having to offer severance pay to older workers. The meetings I've attended were mostly full of people who have been with VZW for 20+ years. Those are the people who have the most to lose out on this when their severance packages would be hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I personally haven't worked for VZW for nearly as long as they have, but when the options are collecting a severance package and finding a new job or just finding a new job; one sounds far better than the other.

I've already started interviewing at other places. I'm not even sure it's worth waiting around the total cluster f--- for the few thousand dollars I'd get from the gutted STI and 220 hours of vacation pay. This might be what they want to happen.

I very curious how this will play out since it seems so poorly planned and executed.

It's just very unfortunate that us workers being rebadged to infoysys are not giving a severance package.

I don't know if workers are entitled to severance payouts, but every other worker who has be removed from VZW has been given one.

Is this not different from the people who are no longer Verizon Wireless employees being forced to work for Infosys.

I legitimately do no know.

I do know I'm not longer a Verizon employee. Why would I have any desire to fulfill my role as one, when I'm not treated as one?

When you quit, Vz has to pay out your vacation so you'd still get paid for your 220 hours. Agree this is a cluster. shankar sounded both nervous and belligerent during one of the town halls. I used to feel pretty neutral about him but now I am disgusted. He sounded like an ignorant, low class, bully giving his spiel that was just total bs.

looks like the company is going in the direction of indian/india in names at least, So no surprise about IT going to an Indian company. The problem there is way to much turnover in India, once someone hears a few dollars more somewhere else they take off, especially since most of the similar company's are in the same building. So when you train someone to take your job they leave within months anyway.
