Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sad day

I have to say that Kmart has been a lot better lately. They just need so love and attention to the stores. Will reorganization make this possible? I can't believe how nasty some people are being and gloating, they've shown their true colors. Whatever you though was going to happen and however much you like to say "told ya so", we're on the cusp of potentially losing two American icons that hugely shaped not only retail, but American life for well over a century. These icons were the biggest retailers during the greatest economic boom in American history. It could be the end of an era and the end of the S S Kresge and Sears legacy. It's sad for America, the customers, and the employees.

Even if they file BK tomorrow it would take months or more to liquidate. Just think how long it takes to liquidate a closing store now. IF they try to restructure then they will have 6 moths to a year before liquidation (see TRU). IF they liquidate then they would probably do it in stages which could take a year. Don't worry you will have a job until at least after Christmas if not a few months longer.

"They just need so love and attention to the stores."

I guess Kmart stores can't find love anymore.

I think we found the Kmart Cheerleader.

Her Thorazine wore off.

The fat lady is singing.

Turn off the lights.

Funny thing is that I look at the store email account, and not only is there utterly no mention of anything going on in regard to all of this mess, which I guess is understandable, but DMs are going on all about some brand new points promotions that are supposed to go well into November. It's like having the Iraqi information minister on the deck of the Titanic doing his best to assure panicking passengers that the boat is not, in fact, sinking, and surely never hit any iceberg. Actually, I suppose a better analogy is that he's not even acknowledging that the boat is taking on water and is trying to usher passengers below deck for dinner.

I only feel bad for the low level employees. However why defend a company that has shafted their loyal employees and their customers for years.

The local sears (Savannah, GA) has employees that actively avoid customers, and someone in a SYW shirt with a sears badge was sleeping at a cash register earlier this year. It didn’t matter, nobody wanted to buy anything. If I was a retailer, at least from this location, I’d throw any applicants resume in the circular file. Any of the good employees would be at more stable retailers long ago.

Can’t wait for them to all go out of business if you haven’t found a new job by now then that’s your problem

Lol you're dreaming. He's said repeatedly he has no interest in spending money to remodel stores.
