Shutting down San Jose office

TR announced today that they are shutting down the San Jose office. If you work in a location that isnt one of the TR hubs expect to be asked to move to the Hub or get a severence.

The San Jose office was owned by TR (it came from an acquisition). So by closing it, not only do they eliminate employees, but they also get cash from selling it. The SF office still has 7 years of lease on it--so expect that to continue for a bit. Honestly I'm surprised to hear that they are doing construction on it given how few non-Clarivate/Refinitiv employees are in it. The place is probably a ghost town now after all of these layoff rounds.

San Francisco seems OK for now as there is still construction going on (to separate Refinitive and TR staff). As that project is still ongoing through Feb '19 and there is a lease in place for some number of years thereafter, it seems likely it will still exist for the foreseeable future.

How many offices are in that area and how many employee impacted?

I thought there were a couple of offices in San Francisco, are both shutting down?

This is getting sadder by the day.

I was in the meeting, it sounds like they plan to shut down all remote offices. No work from home options for anyone who is manager and above.

Heard the same song and dance. We are going through massive changes. In all my years at Reuters I dont think I have seen a shakeup this big.
