Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Why work for cisco

Every year you have these mass layoffs, you never know when the shoe will drop on anyone. It doesn’t matter if your a top performer or not.You treat contractors like second class citizens in the company,of which there many, there not entitled to bonuses, not allowed in certain meetings.Basically you treat them like c-ap,even though without them you couldn’t function. The moral is low since most of the time no one knows what’s going on,with incompetence at the top.So again I ask,why work at Cisco? If you have options choose another company,it can’t be worse than Cisco

I got sick of the constant layoffs and lack of clear direction from the exec level. I left a few months ago after several years at Cisco. Cisco used to be a great place to work but the continual layoffs of good performers made everyone feel as though we were just numbers on a spreadsheet. No matter how big your impact, it was only a matter of time before you would be cut. Morale is now terrible. I am now at a better, growing company and got a large increase in comp.

I’m very sorry for those affected by this latest layoff, but know there is life after Cisco and it is great!

@W0Z49NA-gpq - A meeting with HR does not necessarily mean a layoff, but remember that HRs goal is to get you to sign the paperwork. Not sure how long you've been there, but don't let them pressure you to sign anything until you've read it and are ok with what's in it.

Does anyone know how RTP was impacted by the cuts?

Ask how many and which BU’s are being closed down or else sold off for sc-ap.

Even if you're perm, the lay off threat is so constant (quarterly) that no one helps anyone because they are so afraid of giving their job away or helping someone else look better that they may end up being perceived as a bad performer... it's either you're in the boys club, or worse, you have a relative who's a VP no one wants to say no to...
