Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Are we going back to the drawing board?

How do you separate a business in 3 parts based on the customer type when the main product (the network) does not differentiate between the different types of customers? Who does what? Will teams have to be separated in 2 groups even though they're responsible for the same equipment? Will the network infrastructure have to be redesigned? Wouldn't that be cost-prohibitive? What about plans that were already well under way before this new announcement, do we go back to the drawing board and waste more money trying to figure out how it will work? Should I just give up and take the package? So many questions…

Great post @VZ1Go1Y-uzt . These were the questions that also came to my mind when i heard about the restructuring, so this definitely needs to be a thread on this board.

Apparently, you don't know how to read. It was more than 3 organizations created. And the networks is not being split by the customer, only the accounts are. Geez, people do not pay attention.

What would happen to customer facing employees if there was a buyout?

Having survived MCI being bought by Worldcom, then the remains after the bankruptcy being bought by Verizon I can say the only ones who will truly win in a buyout are officers. The rank and file will either be screwed over or just used like cattle.

Agree with previous post...another reorg. And the exec's who took their minions this time around may need to go shopping for their next job at Oath: or wherever. Besides, we're 2.0 now. Big whoop.

Hoo-hoo-hoo, go on, take the money and run

I think the idea may be that the transport may change, but the customer groups will remain. Services delivered now under fios might also be reworked to operate under wireless 5g, and in the future, services will be designed ground-up to be transport agnostic.

So the idea goes, anyhow.
