Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

It's getting worse

Venting a bit here regarding raises and promotions - both are abhorrently inconsistent. What I see nowadays is that new hires often start at higher salary than people working there for many years. Now, add to that all the perks that keep disappearing (e.g., GPTW, chip loaners, etc. ) and deterioration of benefits, nobody at Intel should be happy with this. Finally, it's so messy in the executive ranks that people simply do not have trust that the current line up can lead us into the next decade.

This is bad.

The Intel culture is what it is. Nothing will change except your reaction to it.

Want more money? Freelance on the side, don't buy new stuff or get another job. You'll get your biggest raises when you hop jobs anyway. What's stopping you - FEAR?

That is the way it works. Nothing that is going on is "new" per se. What is happening is that the bad decisions are becoming more pronounced and visible. The lack of clear direction is certainly not new but is the strongest example of big problems at Intel.

New talent cost more, old folks are trapped so casing need to give them anything.

If you ain’t happy and have real skills get out there. I here people leaving intel are getting g 30-100% raises

The process is absolutely consistent with its corruption and nepotism.
