Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM lays off 75 additional Walgreen dedicated SSR's

Happy holidays from IBM

85+ Walgreen dedicated Technicians let go before the holidays !!

Reason: they make to much and are hiring low cost labor to replace them.

IBM totally mishandled the field support staff. They gave them strict time limits, how long they could be in a store (sometimes four minutes), they charged double what Walgreens Field Support charged the stores, they took much longer to respond for both critical and non-critical tickets, and they resolved tickets claiming problems were fixed that were not. so the store had to open another ticket and which then was routed to Service Desk, who then assigned the new ticket back to IBM. They also cut the number of Tech Support employees supporting a system, and moved the ones they removed from Walgreen support to other areas. IBM promised all Field Support employees that they would have a job for a year from last October. When the contract is lost, I wonder what will happen to the former Walgreen Field Support employees - will IBM keep them or let them go?

The logic checks out

These layoffs and outsourcing always look good on paper but what ends up happening is when the offshore guys take over and their limited troubleshooting capabilities show it ends up costing IBM more in the long run. However upper management never actually looks at the numbers this way they just look at head count costs. Its why IBM is a dying company.

SSR's? I thought most of them were replaced by contractors years ago.

SSR is a horrible gig to have, they will be much better off not being a gopher anymore.
