Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Run, while you can!

At this point if you are working for Sears/Kmart you are either just dumb or drinking the Kool-Aid. There’s no reason to stick around. Start looking! Yes, it’s easier said than done but some people are just too comfortable. There is no severance! Why be loyal to a company that doesn’t give a c-ap about you?

Why continue to be in a c-ap paying job with harsh conditions, no hours, no raises, no job security, and horrible morale?! Sears Holdings will not be around soon. I guarantee that! Open your eyes people we’ve been internally liquidating for a while now.

The play here is to be ACTIVELY SEEKING employment while you are still employed. At this point you have any number of narratives that makes job searching easy: the state of Sears, underemployment essentially being "constructive dismissal"... no one is going to question why you are seeking a job elsewhere.

You should be actively job hunting now, because even if you are let go before you find anything at the very least you are ahead of the game.

This is not "waterfall" you don't need to wait to get let go before looking, and no matter how "positive" the end result for the corporation ends up, folks on THIS forum are going to be screwed no matter what. YOU don't get the parachute. YOU will be used and discarded.

Don't let the sun set without starting your job search.

Then don't tell anyone you are on unemployment. Jeez. The numbskulls around here!

Why in the world would you stay to collect unemployment? The moment you get unemployment status, your chance of landing a job falls significantly. Companies discriminate against unemployed people, believe it or not.

I mean obviously you would find a job first unless you do plan to be on unemployment which is sad in itself.

If you stay till the end and are let go by Sears/Kmart, then you may be able to collect unemployment, if you leave voluntarily then you will not be able to collect unemployment
