Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Commission sales people leaving before Thanksgiving?

With all the deliveries getting cancelled and the lack of appliances and mattresses, and the "vendor issues" I heard that many of them are planning on walking out right before Thanksgiving. I know in my store that most of the commissioned people havent been paid in over a month and they now owe Sears money. Corporate keeps telling them that the vendors are back and that they are delivering but they keep cancelling orders and pushing delivery times back for weeks or even a month.

Any commission people out there planning on walking out?

Maybe it would be more effective if all employees called in sick on Black Friday. They arent giving severance pay anymore and part timers werent going to get anything anyway, so why not just call in sick and use the sick leave you will lose when your store closes?

What are commissions now? 1.5% of sale but 20% for any reductions (scratch, delivery customer sat)?

I learned a few years ago black friday was 5 times the work for an average days pay.

Best buy /pacific doubled my annual income the first year. No shennagins

A steadier pay check can be had in just about any other segment of the economy at this point.

The employees will land on their feet.

Well, maybe not management , but it was they're choice to stay knowing the outcome

They must have changed the questions on the computer to allow the people to pass that test that just a few years ago was very difficult to pass.,

Or they are bypassing the computer test and just randomly hiring friends of friends.. I noticed a few more younger workers starting to show up at work..

Lg Samsung Kenmore made by LG or Electrolux appear to be the best bet to make the sale. Don’t walk out on the day you can make some money . That said get your resume ready. There will be no severance . Best of luck and God Bless .

I don't know why any Sears or Kmart associate would bust their asses to work Thanksgiving Day or black friday. Why let them ruin one more holiday? Just say no.

As an appliance salesperson in a closing store I love this!

All those years we came in on commission to stand around while our families ate.

This is wonderful. I would love to see the stores open and no commission associates show.

I’ve seen the ad and I can only wonder if the items can be ordered and would be delivered.

Left over two years ago. Went to go see my former store a few months ago, which I hadn't seen since I left, and noticed that a bunch of high schoolers and slobbish-looking people (wrinkled shirt, belly showing, matted hair) had taken the place of all the trained, knowledgeable associates with a work ethic and drive. I had the impression that most of them wanted a quick buck while they chit chatted in huddles, stared down into their phones or browsed Pebble on the kiosks.

I went to three neighboring Sears stores and saw the same thing. At one of the stores, I didn't find a soul until I got to mattresses. They were all sitting on them including two with red lanyards (managers). Nobody bothered to greet me. At another store, I saw two younger male employees "dueling" with torque wrenches in one of the aisles in the tool department. At the last store, a group of young men were in a huddle talking about a wild party from what I gathered. What a nice impression!

At this point, I think that many (but not all) of the salespeople and other employees at Sears are "damaged goods" that other employers would not hire.

With what little they pay them in commission cuts all the time can you blame them? Let alone push a PA that costs almost as much as the appliance ........
