Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

When will they hit 475?

I keep hearing November 13th is the day for IT. Are there any more departments left or is that 475?

I just want to point out, the guy with the close reliable source was right, and gave good info. The people calling him a mo--n or complaining about the anonymity of the sources should probably f--- off now.

In response to when will we hit 475? IT says, “Hold my Beer, we got this”

I’ve found the same with my experience. “Reliable” contact usually means a buddy heard it somewhere and shared it with him. We should just accept the facts:

Nobody in any authoritative position is going to share details - that’s why you hear bits and pieces

They can decide not to cut anyone else this year or cut more than expected

If business reasons justify it, they could add more to the cut list

“can confirm with a reliable personal contact who has direct contact ” Wow anonymous, you are a sound source. I know a buddy who knows someone who has a friend. Ok chico. Oh and more super a$$ generic shi@. In the next coming weeks IT will be hit and a wide variety of other departments. Please, do us all a favor and quit your day job and become a psychic! F ing mo--n

I love that people keep calling the number fake news. First off, the 475 is manager employees, that was never suppose to account for contractors since they aren't employees. The agreement population is also not part of that 475, they will see furloughs and craft reductions in smaller amounts periodically, but won't be announced in the hundreds like the managera. 10 here, 30 there, small enough to not make national headlines. In the end, they will be big, but not all.at once, it will be a trickle affect as they move through the network with PSR. Back to the 475, can confirm with a reliable personal contact who has direct contact with the whole thing, UP has only laid off just over 300 as of 11/6. The remaining will be laid off before year end. Expect a hit in IT in the coming weeks, and expect a hit in safety, law, and training by year end. Not ideal, but hope this clears some questions and miss information up.

The only department that I have heard chose to do all their layoffs at once was engineering. Everyone else is probably going to still see more layoffs throughout the various phases until the company reaches their goals.

I don’t give a shi@ what Beth says in a meeting. It’s well above 300. It’s above 500. Without giving too much comp info, just look at totals in an obvious place. AND this doesn’t even account for agreement or contractors. Did anyone call Beth out in that meeting, yep, didn’t think so. Her word is as good as Lance

They have not hit 475 yet. In fact, not close, the number so far is barely at 300. Beth Whited confirmed at an Accounting staff meeting this week that there will be more before the holidays. The timeline of the 13th makes sense as the board meets on the 14th. I don't understand how people haven't been paid their severance yet though.

Before the trolls attack my grammar, it’s just a typo. In previous post, passed should be past.

They are well passed 475. Don’t always believe everything Lance says ir that you read in the Omaha World Herald. ALso, this is the start. You don’t hit the magic mark of 475 and then get a break. It’s a shi@@y way to work but it’s now the UP way.
