Management unpressing the button sell?

Anyone experience management trying to bring button pressers back in to the fold? Rumor is our group had significantly more people volunteer than they needed. Had one person who pressed the button tell me her director approached her today to see what he could do to get her to stay. Also just had an all hands meeting put on the calendar from the VP.

Wonder if management gets to see who opted to go so they could try to bring the ones they want to keep back in to the fold.

Any other examples of this occurring out there?

The reason people clicked out of "uncertainty" is because that is the environment created by executive leadership and it has been that way since the initial offer came out. Very little communication as to strategy or where the individual employees fit in, if at all. Some of the most loyal "V-Teamers" in the Company were faced with making a life-altering decision with very limited information. Take the money and run or stay and just hope Mother V takes good care of the children when it is very clear who has a target on their backs and it's quite obvious there will be more cuts down the line once all the consolidation is figured out. No thanks.

Also seeing a rash of VP and Directors suddenly holding meetings trying to gently sell employees on the idea of staying. Too many volunteers!

Wireline units are vastly over-subscribed. The intent has always been to let everyone who opted in their wish to leave but given the high percentages, they are now going back and talking to people about staying rather than just flat out rejecting their request which will create ill will down the line.

I never heard such BS in my life - tide the wave. The shareholders will outperform the employees. Do you not know that by now. Stupid is is stupid does

I dunno. Our SVP held a call last week and almost seemed to be pitching the idea that unless we were heck bent on moving to the next chapter, staying was definitely an option that would have lots of potential and opportunity.

Additionally, since this was rolled out, my director has been saying he has no issues at all with me wanting to be gone on 12/28. I have been saying I am ready to be RIFd for over a year now and have more than equipped my team and team leader to carry on without me. All of them are young and all are staying. Now today he suddenly asks me how I would feel about delaying until the March or June dates and/or what kinds of conditions would be needed for me to pull out completely and just stick around here. Dunno what is up or of too many took it or what. I am in the target group I think being 60+ making well into six figures. I am still not interested in any way shape or form. Come on Santa and cut me loose for good. I already have a job lined up in January that is going to be way more fun that this place ever was or ever will be.

I have only been here 10+ years, I have been drinking the kool aid not because I like it, because it’s a job. I have had my fill and frankly it’s all hype, my button is pressed and it’s staying that way.

Names of those opting-in are known, culling lists already being circulated.

I’m curious what groups specifically have managers asking people to stay? I haven’t heard anything today. That doesn’t mean I won’t hear anything this week.

this is targeting high salary older workers but if they do not opt in they will be laid off. no offense but dollars and cents. any eeoc potential claims will be denied because these workers had a lucrative voluntary option. at the end of the day most managers know that little to train replacement workers.

The "hold" list is for those employees who are needed for the business for longer than Dec. The choice is to hold until march or June. Everyone who clicked will be let go. You will see!!

lots of rumors out there. the VP call basically said don't leave out of uncertainty, but rather if you were changing jobs/careers or were going to leave anyway. This doesn't really seem that they want everyone to push that button and they will have a say in who stays or goes, that i am pretty sure of.

Even during RIF's there where people on a list, but it seemed even though they were on a list someone had something to say, but then got taken off the list. I can see this working the same way, especially in the groups that rely on US heads to support the business.

i personally think they missed the ppl this was intended for and ended up getting others they didn't think would take it, but we shall see.

I've been asked about how I'd feel about staying until March. So yes.

I don’t think anyone should revoke their voluntary separation. And if asked, demand compensation to stay as a valued employee. I also think we are going to see shady things all week and on into December.

Was told by my manager that they want people off the payroll asap, giving me the impression as many as possible on 12/28. Also if the is a keep list, I think they will be hard pressed to justify it.

I have been with VZ for 5 yrs. My division was completely re-orged in the VZ 2.0 initiative and most of it got the option to leave. Many of us ended up with no team and will have to be re-distributed to existing or newly formed teams, but nobody knows what that looks like exactly. I have asked repeatedly, in the Separation calls as well as the HR partner for the division I'm assigned to and they will not confirm future RIFFs, but they have pushed, very hard, for everyone to take this package. Then the VP held a meeting a called VZ2.0 an opportunity. Not overtly telling ppl not to take the package, but certainly softening the tone we've been hearing from HR. Does anyone know with any degree of certainty if there are any future layoffs planned? What are they going to do with ppl like those in our division who ended up stranded but didn't take the package? Are there any similar situations out in your divisions? The shift in tone was palpable for us, but without any solutions offered.

Verizon doesn’t value anything about us except being a worker drone to get the endless amount of c-ap done. I never told my manager and I will feel betrayed if they hand a list to managers to ask people to stay.

Only heard that Managers are being asked to prepare their "hold" lists. Don't know if that

means hold until June or hold forever.

my guess is that anyone who is asked to be retained (permanently, March, June) approval will need to be given by the VP of the organization. Directors won't have that authority.

I told my manager when I clicked. Out of fairness, I felt I owed him the personal notice. He asked if there was anything he could do to convince me otherwise. Before I gave my feedback, I suggested he ask if this was even possible. He asked, and was shot down. Making me feel even better that I’m leaving....

Hard to believe, but I'd welcome this:

retain critical/valued employees

I’ve heard that management would get a list on Sat/Sun of people who volunteered and have heard from one or two people being asked if there was something that could convince them to unclick. Makes sense, you’d try to retain critical/valued employees if you thought they’d stay when given the right incentive.
