Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Byod for hourly.

Even if they pay for my plan I will not use it.

Will they replace if dropped and it breaks while doing my job? It is a big way to save them money. If people use there phones Sam's doesn't need to buy as many Tc70's.

Ummmm, why would they pay for your plan? It’s a discount. Unless you get a company phone based upon the position your in it’s paid. Hence bring your own device means you pay for the services

It is on this week's amp on wire, so, it IS true...however, I couldn't find anywhere that says they pay for it, just a discount which we already get thru the big carriers.

Well if it’s on this website it definitely true. I think? This is the new improved communication binder right?

They would defined be interested in seeing an hourlys text message history 🤣😳🙄.

Just don’t send a bunch of stuff to your personal email and you’re on no ones radar. That’s what they’re looking for. Because that’s totally how sensitive info gets out. 🤣

Yep. Ok. If everyone says it, it must be true.

They do have access to your personal information. Everyone knows it. That's why most management gets a 2nd phone. It's not rocket science. I've had a couple managers tell me. I'm not saying they look at everyone's stuff, but they sure can if they want to.

conspiracy theorist coming out. Just read the small print on air watch. They could care less about your text messages and who your shacking up with.

@1aek I've pretty much heard the same. I was in the HO when they went to it. (I left last year.) Take the burden off the company and place it on the associate. Cost savings and all. They told us that the software that was installed was separate from everything else on the phone and they couldn't see your personal stuff.

Before I left, I heard that one associate got that that mysterious meeting notice for his layoff. He starting taking pictures of things at work he shouldn't have before his meeting. He was termed immediately and escorted out the door with no severance package.

The associate was wrong and should have been termed but WM lied saying they didn't have access to anything on your phone except for the software stuff you use for work.

I did the BYOD, but in hindsight, I would have gotten a second phone just for work and kept one for my personal life. Some people did. On the flip side, the discount was decent.

Be careful with BYOD. I’ve heard that the company can take control of your phone and remotely erase it and maybe even read your text messages etc on it through the app they make you download to use it.

Yes you get a big discount. But because they put some mega security on your device, there are fears about what Home Office has visibility to once you download the BYOD applications. Most people that I know from home office keep BYOD on a separate phone because of this.

I was told to get a smart phone and carry it all the time by my manager. No way, your not paying for it. Yes, I’m just cheap

Youre at higher risk of dropping it in the toilet when you go to do your personal business than breaking it while doing company business.

Its not about adapting to change. I won't carry my phone at work and risk breaking it to do company business.

So I’m just curious what is the problem with the company trying to save a few dollars? You will still have devices but now you have one in your pocket that’s yours. Does it change anything really? Everyone is hiding down an aisle on their phones anyway. Now you just have an excuse. “Ohhhh I’m just checking on an item.”

So don’t. There’s plenty of other folks that can’t adapt to change too.

Or a big way to give you more resources to do your job a little more effectively?

Seriously? I’m sure you’re on your phone during working hours anyway. What’s the difference if you’re checking your Snapchat and drop your phone while you’re working or checking on an item. Whine and groan continuously over everything.
